His division just wasnt that great. He needed a defining fight to get the attention of the big names and that didnt arrive until the Lacy fight by which time Jones was done and Hopkins was older. The fight with Jones just wasnt viable and Hopkins backed out of their proposed fight.

People say he should've moved up and fought Glen Johnson. Maybe, but who would have really gave a **** if he beat him at the time? Would've been another "nobody". Johnson's claim to fame was KOing Jones which came after Joe pulled out injured.

He should've been more productive and had an epic trilogy with Robert Allen.

Joking aside I mostly agree with this other than the implication that Hopkins not fighting him was a back out.

The only thing I'd add is that he could have jumped to 175 anytime since he was having a hard time making weight.

How do you feel about Warren recently saying Joe faked a lot of his injuries and pulled out of fights due to lack of confidence? Joking aside...

Frank Warren is a lying sack of **** at the best of times, add on to that Calzaghe successfully sued him for millions and Warren had to declare himself bankrupt and u get a not very reliable source.

Although i'd agree with the lack of confidence part.

I think Calzaghe did it very often. And his quote about Jones in 2001 shows a lack of confidence. And his "fear of flying" that magically went away.

Simply put I always got the impression that HE AND his father didn't think he was as good as he really was.

So I dunno about Warren being very truthful, but it sounds like the Calzaghe I saw.

Froch was up for Fighting Calzaghe many times but Joe made excuses saying the Cobra was a nobody but went on to face. Ashira, Bika and Manfreeeedo Jr. The minute Froch bacame Joes mandatory he moved up a weight and vacated???????
