One thing guys like Toney & Floyd M. do is make big punchers take steam off of their shots....
The puncher just wants to get his hands on the slick guy, & has to shorten up his shots in hope of doing so.
I can see Peter getting very frustrated with James in there.

i think peter should stay away from guys like toney and bryd, he's not got quick hands like the way ibeabuchi had, and it may be a very frustrating night for him if he faces one of those guys

Very good points, Peter would burn so much energy in the first half and the second half would get tired and Toney would come on in the late rounds and steal the show....

These are the same arguements offered anytime a green puncher comes up against a slick boxer. They are sound arguements usually but in Toney's case he is not a natural heavyweight, is old, is frequently injured, and carries too much excess flab on his body.

To discount a puncher like Peter's chances against Toney would be foolish. Yes he beat Ruiz. Good for him. However it was not a lopsided decision and Ruiz's skills are downright awful. Ruiz was clearly the stronger man and had no trouble pushing Toney around and into the ropes. Peter is much stronger than even Ruiz. Boxing is a game of skill but things like brute strength and punching power do factor in, especially when the boxer in this case is far up there in years. Peter has a puncher's chance and a very respectable one at that.

Byrd is way worse defensive fighter than Toney, you saw that against Golota, partly because he does not have any power as a deterrent in his counterpunches. Peter could fight with Byrd, but not with Toney, Toney's pop is underestimated and he is alot more skilled than Byrd. Byrd rolls the shoulder pretty good and all that but toney is the master of that ****, Byrd plays defence with his feet, which does not work when guys come at you and shove you into the ropes. Roy Jones has the same problem he sucks fighting with back against the ropes. Toney is great at fighting against the ropes and on the inside, plus Toney has an Iron chin. Where you cant say Byrd does, however Byrd's chin is by no means bad.

Anyway I still think Byrd could beat Peter so I actually agree. Peter vs Golota would be an interesting fight, two slow ****ers pounding each other for 12 rounds or until whoever falls down first. Golota used to have alot of speed buts its all gone now.
