  • Retirement news from RUIZ

I was watchin the Maxboxing post conference of the toney/ruiz fight right now...

Then Stone was sayin how Ruiz wanted to retire right after the Roy Jones fight....then that Stone said he had to win the title back, then he said, "John Ruiz is done!"

Just wanted to let u guys know it came out of the guys mouth himself...I do feel bad for Ruiz though...

    Ruiz won't be missed.
    Toney finished Ruiz.
    Props to Toney.
I thought Toney only ruined careers, I didn't know he ended them as well.

I feel a little bad for him too, oddly enough. He gave one of the most decent performances in his entire career last night, lost to a blown up middle wt. by 5 pt's and call's it quits? Weird I'm not a fan of his and never will be, but I thought he looked better last night than I had ever seen him.

You've answered your own question Tracy.

He fought the fight of his life and still lost to an overweight middleweight.

Lol, sorta..but not everyone has the head movement and defensive skills that Toney possesses. He may do better against other opponets if he fought the same way (which is NOT a given)
And, the 10-8 rd. was bogus..Toney stepped on his foot and that would have altered the score a little too.

Give props to Ruiz. The guy did a better job and tried to change his style so you haters stop bashing! Okay, Toney won the fight but it was not the beating that some of you pretend to talk about. In a rematch, I would give Ruiz a chance against Toney.

It's possible, but the guy is probably fed up with boxing. He never gets any respect and is mocked by fans and fellow fighters alike. I just hope he's made a lot of money.

It's weird..I never really cared before, but I hope he did too. He'll need it to get by on..I just dont see him making a career as a commentator.
