I actually agree, I dont see why some people stress the list so much. It's generated by a script which is far from perfect when taking into account how the rankings line up.

To prove me right, Wlad ranked at number 5, James Toney at 4 and David Tua ranked at 21.

In his past 6 fights, Wlad has lost to 2 lowly regarded fighters, beat up 3 corpses and got a technical decision over a fighter who had planted him on his ass. Yes, I know it was a flash, but he was still on his ass.

James Toney has fought 2 corpses at heavy. True, he is undefeated in the past 8 years, but his ring record over that time period, with the exception of Jirov and Holyfield, is a "who the **** is that?", not a "who's who" of boxing. Let's not forget that the Holyfield he fought was a shadow of his former self and had lost 4 of his past 6 fights coming in, and one of thewins was a TD due to a rat over Rahman's eye. Sorry, but that thing was too huge be a mouse.

David Tua comes back after a 2 year layoff, beats up a corpse and is ranked higher than a man who beat up Wlad?

        AND????

I completely agree with those ranking!
        Again.. Those are COMPUTER ranking..
Wlad beat up Byrd, who is currently ranked a #1, he beat up McCline, who after his 2 losses is ranked #11. So what should he be ranked as? 25?

Now Tua was inactive and this is why he is ranked at 21. (Isn't that what you were trying to say it doesn't do?
The biggest problem in boxrec's ranking system is that it doesn't penalize fighters who have taken a break in their career enough.
Now Bozo_No_No.. lets not get into an argument on this one... I'm talking about COMPUTER RANKING

Vitali should not be so low on this list. Vitali has the greatest chin in boxing, he has never been knocked down or hurt with a punch ever in his career! That has to mean much as a heavyweight. Almost everyone else on that list has been hurt or knocked down before in their career. Being able to not be knocked down is very important.

Anyone who has to fight Vitali has no chance of ever knocking him down, yet Vitali has an excellent chance of always knocking his opponents down. Vitali should be much higher, closer to number one!

Your post kinda proves my point. I think Wlad, if his stamina is improved, is definitely in the top 10, but he has done nothing in his last 6 fights to be ranked in the top 5. The Byrd fight was 5 years ago. Who has he beat since then? McCline has been proven to be a waste of time. He beat a 41 year old Ray Mercer. Who else of note?

After 2 years off and no credible opposition in his comeback fight, Tua doesn't belong in the top 25.

James Toney has done nothing to prove he belongs in the top 10, let alone Top 5, Heavyweight rankings.

I don't really have one. I am considering, though, trying to come up with a better algo. All I need is to get my hands on the data that boxrec has.
