Is this a joke? That's probably the worst list in the history of the sport.

Morales was 7 or 8 on all the lists I read before the Pac fight, now all the sudden he's number two or three on most of them? I dunno, I'm not a huge EM fan, but it bugs me how little respect he got before that fight.

They do their rankings by computer and it's based only on how successful a fighter is in beating quality opponents within his weight class. The rankings are not based on ability or to what degree the fighter beat those said opponents. When you look at it like that, it makes sense. Ruiz has beaten better guys than Vitali, so he is ranked higher even though his methods of beating those guys has been less than impressive.

It isn't that much of a joke really. At least it isn't biased.

I don't think Pacquiao should be in the top 10.He is ranked num.6 after getting his ass wuped by Morales. If anything Juan Manuel Marquez should be ranked in the top ten. When he fought Pacquiao we all saw him get up off the canvis three times in the first round to come back and give Pacquiao a boxing lesson.Marquez should have gotten the win over Pacquiao and should be ranked as one of the top ten lb4lb.

I think Marquez will eventually be top 10.
He is one of the best boxers out there.

The biggest problem in boxrec's ranking system is that it doesn't penalize fighters who have taken a break in their career enough. They do lose some ranking points, but not many at all. If they win a comeback bout, even against lowly regarded opposition, they add to their points. If they lose to lowly regarded opposition it has hardly any effect at all.

I honestly think that they need a better algorthym than the one they currently use.
