If Floyd decided that he WANTED to stop Marquez... If he made the decision to fire combinations, and let his hands go, and give it his all...

    COULD HE, have done it?
Absolutely... wouldn't have been smart though...Floyd needed the rounds after a 21 month lay off.

It's not in him anymore to go all out for the KO. Compare the Floyd we saw in September 2009 with Floyd who destroyed Genaro Hernandez and Angel Manfredy in 1998. Same skills, but young Floyd was obviously much hungrier and eager to prove himself.
what the hell are u talkin about floyd never destroyed manfredy
even though manfredy was never in his league the dude was punchin back and did a nate campbell on the post fight interview if panda remembers correctly

like was said in the other thread by me, floyd doesnt stop marquez, too much heart and determination

          more bs...

How does a KO come to a fighter if they're not trying get it? That's just ridiculous.

You don't think he wanted or tried to?? Of course he did. Nobody wants to work overtime.

Hell no. He had no reason not to do it, yet he was unable to do it.

my mistake. i forgot hatton got up after the first knockdown.

but to answer the question, if hatton didn't get up after the first knockdown, that's how a KO comes to the fighter. it's when you get a KO when you're planning to go the distance.

                    • Maybe, who knows, if Floyd started being very offensive minded would he probably would've have stopped Marquez. But you gotta take in the risk factor involved. Why risk losing a fight you know you can win if you play smart.
