They need to work on bringing and keeping the family together and forget about any business aspects as far as boxing.
    That maybe very well, true!!

'Junito' and Evangelista Cotto put aside their differences for a few minutes to say goodbye to their loved Don Miguel

Thoughtful. Don Miguel Cotto Carrasquillo died Sunday at 55 years of age due to health complications. Yesterday, family and friends paid their last tribute in the neighborhood Cañaboncito of Caguas.

      BY JOSEPH A. SÁNCHEZ FOURNIER jose.sanchez @ elnuevodia.com

The deep pain of losing a loved one yesterday joined the boxer Miguel Cotto, Jr., and uncle Evangelista, who put aside personal and professional differences that caused a rupture in their relationship to shoulder to shoulder, firing yesterday Don Miguel Cotto Carrasquillo, father and brother of former champion coach.

Don Miguel died Sunday afternoon after suffering an asthma attack while driving on the PR-183, from San Lorenzo to Caguas. His remains were exposed on Monday and yesterday at his residence in sector Ants in the district Cañaboncito of Caguas.

In the same mound where Don Miguel lived lives her younger brother, Evangelista, who was nicknamed "Cano".

But although they were steps from each other, the brothers stopped talking after nine last April a discussion in the gym Bairoa caused a split in the guild Cotto, who worked together since the three sons of Don Miguel began to train as boxers under the tutelage of his uncle "Cano".

That day, Evangelista and Miguel, Jr., discussed by differences in training the second. "Cano" and "Junito" went to the hands and don Miguel had to intercede, along with others present, to separate them.

Cotto, Jr., his uncle fired as coach. It then sued him for more than $ 7 million.

But yesterday, according to El Nuevo Dia told several people close to the family, present in the final farewell to Don Miguel, the blood was thicker than water.

Perhaps wishing to avoid any awkward position, Evangelista had not come to the house opposite to him a last farewell to his brother.

Yesterday, as the honor guard of the National Guard of Puerto Rico Miguel dismissed with a wave of twenty shots, watched his younger brother afflicted from the balcony of his home.

After the ceremony, the funeral contingent went into the home of Don Miguel.

All but Evangelista and his mother, who remained in the carport of his home.

Inside, before the remains of the retired reservist, the honor guard gave the American flag to Juana Vazquez, Cotto's widow.

The military send-off ended at about 1:00 pm It was then when Miguel, son, left the house again. He walked to the home of his uncle and to the astonishment of most of those present, put his right arm over his shoulder and took him into the house of Don Miguel.

Both stopped in front of the nickel-colored coffin. Then "Junito" stepped back to let Evangelista had a last moment of silence with his brother.

Subsequently, the remains of Miguel Cotto Carrasquillo, who died at age 55, were taken to the Cremation Plus Porta Coeli in Bayamon, where they would be cremated.

The promoter Bob Arum was unable to travel for viewing, but present were other representatives of the company, Top Rank.
Good for them, if Cotto gets him back in his corner then he will be better off

this thought crossed my mind after that tragic event...sometimes, these things can kill family beef and really give you sense of what's important

i'm sure Don Miguel's heart was finally mended when his son and brother had that moment

i'd like to see them work their differences out and team up again

BUT Evangelista helped Cotto fight to his potential. Cotto wouldn't have defeated Judah or Mosley without Evangelista in his corner. Cotto definitely needs a new trainer, if not Evagenlista, it should be Nancho Berstien.

Man, such a tragic story. Its sad that things like this is what most of the time brings families back together. I had it happen in my own family. My heart goes out to the Cotto fam.

Boxing might actually be what they need. The whole family surrounded itself around it. Evangelista was the trainer, Don Cotto a sort of adviser, and of course Junito the boxer. Cotto and Evangelista may very well get back together and give Cotto's last year a good run for Don Cotto. It's a shame that these are the circumstances that are sometimes required to resolve issues, but I'm sure both will come out stronger and better people. Don Cotto must truly be smiling down on the two as they finally put their differences aside.
