Comments Thread For: Yusaf Mack Will Retire Glen Johnson, Says Tandy

On January 30th, Yusaf Mack (28-2-2 17KOs) will fight against Glen Johnson (49-13-2 33KOs) on the undercard of Shane Mosley vs. Andre Berto. This will be the Philadelphia light heavyweight's toughest bout to date, and many are unsure as to whether he can step up to Johnson's level. His trainer John Tandy has entirely different perception on the upcoming fight though, as he revealed to BoxingScene.com. [Click Here To Read More]

its a good possibility...mack is an underrated fighter and johnson is well past it..i wouldnt be to suprised if mack ends up knocking johnson out with that signature right hand of his.

Mack is tailor made for Johnson.

He will look good for 4-5 rounds until he tires, loses focus, gets desperate, and gets KTFO.

i will also add though that mack will only go so far...he will not beat cloud..mack is somewhat chinny and alls it takes is one right hand from cloud and its a wrap..cloud has KYTFO power with everything he throws..if mack gets past johnson i see mack-cloud playing out like this..mack comes out circling and cloud is patient looking for the right oppurtiunity to let a combination go..by about the 3rd round mack starts to open up and BAM! he gets caught with a cloud counter right hand and hes out completely cold..cloud KO 3

you maybe right on the style matchup..but do oyu realize just how much johnson has slowed down?...he gets hit alot more and doesnt seem to have that same fire he used to have..with someone like mack who has speed and power and knows when to tie up..is very likely to beat johnson at trhis point in his career.

"Gonzales looked out on his feet from the first round"
            LOL

I like Mack. He's very skilled. I hope he beats Johnson (and I think he will pretty easily), who is not as ferocious and energic as he used to be. In other words, he's shot. We could see that in the rematch against Judah before Dawson II. As Tymann has said above, he has no fire left, the fire thAT used to characterize him as a fighter. I'm looking forward to a great Mack win and then a shot at Cloud.

Johnson isn't the same fighter anymore. He's been on the decline and looked sluggish and flat against Dawson the second time around. The power and output just isn't there anymore, he'll look like the a 40+ year old boxer with 60+ matches. In other words well past his prime and not up to snuff with the young guns.

Mack is nowhere near Dawson's level of speed and skill.

Johnson lost twice narrowly to the very best LHW in the world, the most recent time there were two 115-113 cards.

Mack would be lucky to win a single round against Dawson.

If this were a 10 round fight i'd like Mack's chances a little better, but it's a 12 rounder and he is going to be like a fish out of water in the championship rounds against a veteran tough guy like Johnson.

no...i think your underrating mack heavily..he was ahead on all three scorecards against librado andrade before getting stopped in the 7th..and has defeated top ten light heavy chris henry who i think is bigger, stronger and hits harder than glen johnson. johnson is DONE. im telling you he is going to get beat convincingly by mack. i also think the mack would be lucky to win a round aganst dawson is way exaggerrated.

Those cards for the second time were a joke and you know it.
