Would 2 fights against top fighters made all the difference for Calzaghe?

I mean this exclusively in terms of legacy. If Joe Calzaghe had 2 more fights against top opponents like Dawson and Johnson for example and ran his record to 48-0......would that have made all the difference? Would Joe still be called a fraud by some if he beat 2 more top opponents or would he be considered and ATG? Does a little bit go a long way in your estimation of Calzaghe?

i think if he beat dawson and anyone else his status would be much higher. he left when there was a consensus top contedner at the weight who many gave a really good chance at winning the fight. mabye johnson or somebody from the super 6 who would have moved up. ward vs. joe would be a toss up for me but i think dawson takes joe all day.

Froch would be slapped around and embarrassed for 12 rounds.

Hed still get shat on. Its never enough for these Roid Jones Juicer fans.

They would say Glen Johnson was too old and they would call Dawson a hypejob just like they did Lacey after Zags beat his ass.

Glen Johnson is out of the running at this point. He's pretty stuck imo. Joe might be better off staying retired and just see if historians will be gracious on his place in boxing history. 175 - HW is a wasteland in big name talent right now and I think there was talk about how he couldn't make 168 anymore after he fought Hopkins. It seems boxing would only be worthwhile for him at this point if he could still fight at 168.

To be fair to Dawson, he was actually proven against top 10 competition like Adamek, Johnson, and Tarver. He had names on his resume. Lacy had no names on his resume(Reid was a name but we all know he was past it) and the first step-up opponent he fought(Calzaghe) he lost to him.

of course it would have made a difference but then he probably would have lost and wouldn't be able to land that spot on dancing with the stars. that was his plan all along.

I read that he had an interest in coming back. If its not against Dawson or Cloud he may as well forget it. Even if he beat Cloud who in my view now would be an upset, ppl would say he was like Lacy a hypejob who beat nobody or past prime fighters.
