anyways, can someone provide some background so we know why AA did this?
I thought we already give you some hints to it. Foremost, it has to do with German national TV channel ARD which wants every sports that's aired on it be clean or at least proven to be clean. So they forced Sauerland Event to sign such a deal and have all its fighters involved (plus their opponents - though, maybe not that detailed). This was some time ago (about 2006/07).
But in Spring 2009 Sauerland went even further to promote his events as even "cleaner" - I suppose it had a lot to do with TV contract extensions and so SE showed their willingness and brought itself into a good position...see, about 2 months ago ARD made it public that the contract was extended for 2 more years (or 20 events) till the end of 2011...

Sauerland already has something like that in place... it is just that they don't have a deal with the NADA... so the NADA or an independent agency does it... it get's done by an agency that's paid by Sauerland...

Even Simon like the article stated was tested in camp once and had no problem with it...

As far as I understood it... everybody who is a fighter of Sauerland or an opponent has to take these tests... it's in the contract... the only question of course is... if it counts for the SuperSix as well or if they had to give in about that... to make this event happen... that's something I don't know...

But usually every opponent of Valuev, Abraham, Kessler, Huck etc. get tested in camp.
I guess that after SE being the mastermind behind the Super Six Tourney, there must be an anti doping policy written into the whole tourney contract...maybe one of da BScene reporters could ask Hershman this question. If not befor late January I will do it on my own at Sylvester vs. Navascues...

In Germany doping is probably an even bigger issue like in the US... mainly it happened through cycling... because cycling was relatively big in Germany with Team Telekom and Jan Ulrich... and there was this big scandal where also pretty much the whole Team Telekom was involved... and boxing in Germany gets televised by two channels mainly (only Klitschko's fight now on RTL) and these two channels are public channels... the german citizien pays these two channels with their taxes... so they pretty much have to have a clear cut program because we pay for it...

And they blacked out the tour as this scandal happened and said there has to be something done against doping or we won't support it with the tax money of our citiziens... and that was really a truning point because Germany was one of the biggest markets for cycling and they lost a lot of money...

And then they also said that it would be hypocritical if they say cycling has to be clean but they do nothing against the other sport they have running on their channel - boxing... so they pretty much put it on the promoters to get the job done and Sauerland's contract was expiring this year and for now they only got a new one year contract.

But because of other things with doping in Germany this was always a topic here and there and Sauerland even before this happened with the Tour had already an program intact... but to get this done with proper execution they linked themselves to the austrian boxing association and not the german boxing association... the german boxing association is still a little rejective of some things that the NADA wants... and the german boxing association is linked with Universum who also are still a bit of rejective over some points.

Yeah but that's the way it meant to be - so the only one to blame here aren't the fighters but the TV channels like HBO and SHO...you know HBO having a real good sports programming with historic flashbacks and documentaries but did they ever bother to make some about doping, enlighten the awareness of its US viewership?

Props to AA...for not whining and crying about it...and just signing the contract.

                Props.

Thanks a lot. I DO speak german myself, but only just enough to get by.

Tom it would be nice if you could ask the question at the Sylvester fight. I'm particularly interested to know if and how much Ward was tested before Kessler. That is obviously interesting because ward openly admits to being a client of BALCO founder Victor Conte. PM me if you need a source.
