    What a JOKE!
I'm no doctor but if blood-work would have been done and examined before the fight, the situation wouldn't be where its at now. Regardless if inhalants have steroids or not.

The fact that it could have been "corrected" before the fight happened by doing "random" drug tests would have kept negative publicity out of boxing headlines that contains the word "steroid".

      Good posts Jreck.

People shouldn't comment unless they know the facts. There's more to asthma treatment than using an inhaler. I have a family member with asthma and they've had to take steroids before because of it.

Briggs should've had more awareness of what was in whatever medication he was taking though. He probably has a legit reason to be using certain medication, but if it's against the rules of the sport then he has to accept that and either not use it or not fight.

Also, all the article says is 'banned substance'. That could be a recreational drug. His manager claims that it's because of his medication so it probably isn't going to be that, but boxers (Tyson) have tested positive for stuff like that in the past.

You're correct but this is why the sport needs more testing. Randomly and blood should be involved. Regardless if Briggs is innocent or not. Boxing wouldn't be in the situation its in if correct and more in depth testing was done at random and with blood.

If it helps to keep things "on a level playing field" or to keep things fair, im all game for it. Boxing doesn't need this kind of publicity especially when it can be resolved before either guy ever steps in the ring.

It comes down to Mayweather's name being involved so everyone wants to disagree especially since Pac disagrees with this kind of testing.

and I hope Briggs is innocent and it was an "honest" mistake.

Yes, It would have been better to have a fighter tested before the fight and called the fight off if anything su****ious comes up instead of *****g the other fighters life in danger.

Banning Briggs and changing the fight to a no-contest doesnt do much, The main thing is to catch them before the get in the ring.

could be he did'nt take his meds before fights for that reason. but seeing as he's been out the ring for 2 years and started back up, he could have agitated his asthma with road work and sparring. seems you don't know much about the subject and is trying to bash the guy. look at it this way, if it was a ped i'm sure he would have been suspended a lot longer then 90 days

Yep. Hopefully they start testing guys more often while they are in training.

If you lose to a guy who is on steroids, then he gets caught, it's too late to matter to you. You already got beaten and busted up. Even if they change it to a no contest, you still had to fight a cheat and possibly suffer damage/injury because of it.

I actually think that if you're a professional boxer you should be entitled to random testing at any point and time.

If you're under a fight contract you should be entitled to several random tests leading up to the fight.

But we already Have boxers like Pacquiao who are oppose to random drug test, I mean they have different excuse on why they dont want it and if a big name like him doesnt want it then its either the commission would listen to him or he would choose to retire.

It is true but Pac has had testing after a fight many times and there hasn't been a problem. He does not have any illness or a long lay off.
