Alternatively, if his marketing strategy was to loved, would he need fans to both hate to hate him and love to love him?

i would agree with this if he didnt cry so much that people hate him or not root for him.

Seeing his father and uncle i believe floyd along with his relatives is just naturally an ******* and an unlikable character.

The way Floyd fights implies that he is fighting in the way he trained to fight. That's why he trains like he does. To influence the manner in which he fights.

he acts in a way that gets him hated to sell tickets and get press but he wants to be loved.

it's contradictory but that's how i see it.
Is this speculation or has he said from his own mouth that he wants to be loved?

                ah.

true to a point. but.. He does that for casuals. The reason he throws in other efforts (being respectful after a match, claiming he's changed his life on interviews, etc), seeming to toe the line between likable and non likable...is to keep his fanbase, which he does have one..

Floyd basically wants both love and hate.

it's interesting, because a lot of boxing fans hate him, but hey seem to enjoy hating him. i guess you could say they love to hate him.

he's like the boxer you love to hate. it's a clever marketing strategy.

then why the fuuck does he wonder why everyone hates him?

i think hes jus f-ed up in the head. his situation with sr reminds me of how michael jackson was brought up.

michael jackson = floyd mayweather jr

I never cared too much about the personal lives of fighters as they are not role models. PBF is not an evil guy but his ****iness and inarticulate choice of words gets him in trouble. He thinks he is better than Sugar ray leonard and Sugar ray Robinson? Than something is very wrong. SRL beat 4 Hall of fame fighters who are probably top 80 in many lists in Benitez, Duran, Hearns, and hagler. That dosent include noteworthy fights as Kalule who was undefeated southpaw and Lalonde who had power with an enormous reach advantage. But mayweather makes a big stink that an old leonard was knocked out by camacho. Perhaps Mayweather didnt like that SRL beat Mayweather SR in his heyday?

Robinson beat 7 hall of famers and was like 102-1 after 103 fights-something close to that ballpark. Mayweather's only win against a hall of famer is DLH and possibly Corrales. The HOF is very selective and i dont think hatton is a sure bet to make it.

Mayweather contradicts himself. He says that Gatti was a paper champion and yet he fights him anyway at 140. He says pac is an easy fight and yet he demands olympic style testing for an easy fight?
