i'd like to take some time out to tell you guys about 3 of the folks i met at this fight from boxing scene. i'll start with st since i met him first and had spent alot of time with him. what a super guy. funny thing is that this dude can name drop til next year if he wanted to but he isn't like that at all. i mean the few names he has mentioned to you guys are just a drop in the bucket. the man is for real. it was a pleasure hanging out with him the night before the fight and then again after the fights. and what a stage presence. persoanlly i'd choose hom over buffer. that lets get ready to rumble junk is sooo out dated. time for some new blood and new material. tracy finally made it there saturday just before the fights. i was standing in front of the forum and st called me over to give me her tickets so she could get in. i looked for about 20 minutesd till i went to the box office and there she was talking to the ticketer. you guys should have seen the relief on her daughters face(and what an adorable face i must say). they both seemed to be happy to see me with the tickets. it was a blast talking boxing and non boxing with intelligent people. her daughter knows more boxing than most of my friends. now i'm not the biggest winky fan (how could i be when her daughter is!) but i have to tell you was priceless watching this youngster get excited about meeting winky. she wore a t-shirt that she made that said something like I love you winky! i believe the love was in the form of a heart. i think she almost fainted meeting him. she couldn't speak for like 5 hours! j/k. both tracy and amber were alot of fun to hang with. you better watch that girl tracy, she is gonna be a heartbreaker! all you guys missed out on hanging out with some great people. hopefully there will be more chances to come in the future. anyways.....you guys i had a blast and it wouldn't have been the same without hanging out with you all.

Oh yes, she worked very hard on that shirt the night before we left for Memphis. And youre right, it said "I (heart) Winky"..and was all different colors. She cracked me up about that too..JD said he was bringing Winky to meet her, and all of a sudden she goes to putting on that shirt..I grinned at her and she said, matter of factly, "Well, I'm getting cold MOM" and made a face similar to that smiley I just used. I told her to just admit it..it was no big deal, but to this day she JUST GOT COLD!!! Halarious!
Thanks Jimi..your a cool one, and my kid thinks highly of you. She's talked non-stop about you and the both of you rooting for Ike the way you did..still hasnt shut up about it. To anyone that'll listen, she has lots to say, but thats what I had hoped for...to give her lasting memories and that was a success!

It kills me that I haven't been able to find any of you work from this night on-line, Soundtraveler. Plus I'd really like to see Ward in action. Usually European fight fans upload that sort of thing somewhere, but I've been scouring all the usual download sites and haven't found anything .

Yes, it was an amazing experience, and I cant wait to do it again. My kid is still walking on clouds...the past week she's had me going thru all my back issues of Ring Mag, Ko, World Boxing and Box 2004 just to find photos of him to cut out and hang on her bedroom wall! Been real busy with that task

It sounds like you guys had a great time. I'm very happy for you guys and especially "minnie me" as TL calls her. Winky is one of my favs too as well as Roy Jones Jr. I would have loved to have joined you guys. Hopefully there will be another opportunity some time.
