Look at why Winky Wright fought over there for a big majority of his career. I think Martinez is gonna swing for the fences in his future fights because he knows that these judges are out to screw him. If you can get a guy's head to spin around with sweat flying off of it, then you punch pretty damn hard. I had Martinez beating Paul Williams when I watched the fight a second time too. And this is coming from someone who has been a fan of Paul Williams for a long time.
Yes, his lower ko % is a product of his style, being choosy with punches and throwing less, lessens your chance of a ko as there are less punches being thrown which can register one.

Well thought Martinez won IMO.....6 rds to 5, one rd even....if not 7rds to 5.....i thought he was landing the cleaner harder and more effective blows....

Martinez will be a lot easier to negotiate with than Paul Williams will, that's for sure. This is why Pavlik needed to show some balls like he is now before he decided to fight Williams in the first place. That is why Paul was able to squeeze a lot of money out of him because Pavlik wouldn't entertain the thought of fighting a good opponent besides Williams during the negotiations.

Williams had fall back options that included Clottey, Dzinziruk, and of course Martinez himself. I think that Pavlik may have expressed interest in Martinez too, but he wasn't considered as dangerous as he is now. And then you had Bute at 168 who Pavlik could've called out. What I mean is he didn't show any cards and as a result he didn't get the kind of money that a champion should get against the challenger had the fight went through.

I think its a smart move for Pavlik to take on a guy that gave Williams all he can handle if the Williams fight dont go through.Williams team asking for a 50-50 split is alil crazy IMO.Kelly is the 160lb champ Williams is not.The fight should be 60-40 for Pavlik and thats being generous.Alot of people seen that Martinez won that fight with williams so if Pavlik was to beat Martinez in a dominate fashion that would force a Williams match and prove that Williams dont deserve 50-50.

I think people are forgetting Pavlik is a very physically strong fighter @ 160......he is no walkover for Williams or Martinez despite their style advantage.......

Maritinez could be a very bad style match for Pavlik.

Then again Pavlik has the power to turn a fight around with one punch.

This should be an interesting fight. After watching Martinez worked Williams and flooring him in the last fight. He should have no problems getting rid of Pavlik with his great agility and cleverness in the ring. Martinez is someone to reckon with. Good for Pavlik taking this fight. Hopefully he fights Williams afterwards. These three should just continue beating up on each other and give us some trilogies.

Na, Floyd should fight one of them at 154 or Pavlik at 160 if he's not gonna fight Mosley or Pacquiao which he probably won't. Remember this, I'll beat anybody from 154 down? Do it then.
