Williams destroys either Pavlik or Martinez. The only reason Martinez was competitive in the first match was Paul trained for an orthodox fighter, and Paul STILL won clearly. A Williams-Martinez rematch will look just like the Williams-Quintana rematch. That's why Martinez doesn't want it.
Paul is the #2 PFP fighter in the world. Pavlik and Martinez are mediocrities.
you just may very well be the biggest douchebag around this place, and that's saying alot!!!
Interesting fight. I believe Martinez's speed will give Kelly some minor problems but nothing that his punching accuracy and power cannot overcome. He will TKO Martinez in around 8 or 9 rounds.
I'd like to see Williams-Martinez II at 154, but I wouldn't mind Pavlik vs either guy and these 3 could have some good battles which would be great for 154/160. TBH I think Williams seems to revel in having this "avoided" tag. He should take whatever he can with fighters that have been on the elite stage before.
Pavlik has fought against Hopkins and Taylor...2 of the biggest names out there. If he is truly confident Williams should sign any decent contract with Pavlik and have a rematch clause written in and then fight him which would raise his profile and maybe net him a higher value rematch on HBO if the fight is good.
First of all Martinez record is not 42-22. More like 42-2. Secondly, Pavlik should be made to wait to fight the winner of the rematch between Williams and Martinez. By fighting a bum like Espino Pavlik forfeited his shot at either fighter. Lastly, either Williams or Martinez defeats one-dimensional Pavlik in a head to head match up.

Pavlik has been doing nothing for too long the MW champion at this point shouldn't be waiting at all but rather seeking out the best challenges possible.....either PWill or Martinez are fine opponents for him.

Pavlik lost to Hopkins there is no disgrace in that. To think that Martinez or Williams schools Pavlik in his own weight class is wishful thinking. Neither one has been in a fight with someone who can knock you out at any point of the fight. Williams learned he can be hurt in the last fight something he didn't think could happen. If he is chin checked by Kelly he could be out for the count and Paul knows this.
So is Williams going to be considered ducking Martinez if Pavlik fights him first? Williams should be asking Martinez for a rematch to avenge that L he should've received. At the very least to remove any doubt about who is the better fighter between them.
I agree. Martinez and Pavlik fighting each other makes Williams look bad. I'm a fan of Paul Williams and the second time I watched that fight I had Martinez edging it.

I would not say it makes Williams look bad. Maybe his management. These fighters will fight each other any day of the week. It is the dealer makers who make the decisions that ultimately decide the course of action to take, spin deals etc.
It really bugs me when fighters get called duckers or scared. They are always willing to put it all on the line. Williams would fight anyone any time.
I also cannot really blame his management team for looking to get him a confidence building fight after his tough fight with Martinez. I mean he gave his fair share in that fight, but it was still tough for him.
Not quite the one we wanted (right?), but a good fight nonetheless. I can't pick 'em for this one. All 3 guys are good, and any combination should automatically produce a barnstorming fight.
Martinez, Pavlik and Williams all need to fight each other at least once in '10.
