how is that even legal? Floyd shouldn't be allowed to do that
Will Floyd be allowed to numb his hands for the Pacquiao fight.

if you cant punch naturally then you shouldnt be punching.
its still and advantage because it's letting you do something you normally wouldn't be able to do naturally.Comment

The bottom line is this and its simple. If it was a performance enhancer and legal then why isnt every fighter doing it? Bully just talked about Clottey but that happened during the fight. It wasnt pre fight. I mean, he could just always take the shot every pre fight, just incase, right? He doesnt do it just like everyone else because it doesnt help you, it actually hurts you. You do not punch as hard with those shots. It limits you. Everyone wants to feel all of there hand. You think you can numb your hands right now and still punch as effective? Its only for safety. If it was that big of a deal then everyone would be doing it just incase but it will hurt youComment

For me, to have something injected to not feel pain is not safety, it's more dangerous because he may punch harder than he can take or be damaged but not feel it as much. However that is an advantage in a fight when you want to use your hands to block and take punches.
How can you say it is a disadvantage or Floyd would not be using it. Why would he use it in the first place?
You're a smart guy DLT, but your bias for Floyd makes you sound quite silly to me sometimes.
Perhaps the states that Clottey fought in banned it. Perhaps this is why Texas is not a good place because Floyd wouldn't be able to use it.
Shaeffer didn't even turn up there if I recall.Comment

Bias? What are you talking about? You act like you are talking about something so different or something illegal. Its legal and all the pro sports use it. The biggest stars openly talk about how they may have to shoot up this week to play. If it made you punch harder as you say then everyone would do it for every fight. You think the hardest punchers wouldnt do it? They would do it because they think they already hit hard so if you add more power then they are unbeatable. No one does it except for safety. I mean, you can have it your way if you want but pro sports would be sad. You would have a ton of stars sitting out every week and you would have big name stars having to retire early which would cripple your sport. You never hear one person make a big deal about it because they know it doesnt enhance your performance, it just basically allows you to step into the ring or fight at all, just like it only allows you to step on a football field. What safety? I need you to explain.

Also, people act like its magic. Its not. Even the guys who take the shots still feel mad pain and hurt there hands. Even the pro players still end up only playing half a game and then having to shut it down. It doesnt enhance you. Biased? Come on now. If it was a big deal then eveyrone would be talking about it. Im sure that no one is scared that Paulie is getting shots and now will turn into Tyson. No one thinks it gives Paulie an advantage. It basically just keeps him in the sport. You dont want that? Its truly no different then guys taking pain killers but they dont want to be addicted and be drugged up. Go watch any fighter with the pain killers and you will noticely see that they punch even lighter after the shots. Thats why no one uses them unless they really need it. It hinders you in the ring but you have no choice if you have bad handsComment

numbing injections or pain killing injections to me are the very epitome of performance enhancing drugs.
think about it they allow you to go beyond what is naturally within the parameters of mans abilties.
injections such as this allow you to continue with high intensity/painful exercises, now if your opponent hasn't had the same injections then he obviously can't continue with the exercise. therefore its the injections that are allowing one athlete to push himself harder than the other.
i know they are allowed in football and many players use them in order to delay surgery or put off therapy but imo they are still performance enhancing drugs.
would be interested to see what others think? also what about drugs that allow the body to recover? would be interested to see what people think about themComment

If Mayweather didn't take it, then would he hessitate to throw and punch or block if his hands started to hurt a lot more?
Does that enhance his game? considering his style is to be accurate and not get hit.
I'm talking boxing here. Others sports don't concern me right now.
PS. I said he may punch harder than he can take. That means if he is without, his punches may be a hell of a lot less in power because it would hurt him so much.Comment

No, if he couldnt take it then he would be retired, plain & simple. If thats what you want then fine. If NFL guys couldnt take it then you would have an all backup team every weekIf Mayweather didn't take it, then would he hessitate to throw and punch or block if his hands started to hurt a lot more?

I'm just saying this, because you seemed to make out that it is a disadvantage.
Basically it enhances his game because he may not be able to fight without it.
It's not just a performance enhancer, it actually is what allows him to fight.Comment
