Barrera Wins; Rematch With Pacquiao Looms

With Marco Antonio Barrera’s epic victory over WBC super featherweight champion in a superb ending to their incredible trilogy, a rematch with Ring Magazine featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao looms provided the flamboyant Filipino overcomes WBA/IBF featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez in their own rematch on February 26. Pacquiao who intently followed the action in the Solar Sports telecast over RPN 9 along with trainer Freddie Roach at Pacquiao's home in General Santos City told Viva Sports/Manila Standard in a long distance telephone interview "I am ready to fight Barrera or anybody who wants to fight Pac-Man.Just bring them on," even as he stressed he didn't care "who comes first" Marquez or Barrera. I have to admit I bought the PPV. I said I wasn't but did and am very glad I did. The undercards were OK, but the fight lived up to all the hype, for a change. That was awesome. I would pay to see a fourth fight between these two..... Yes, Pac Man should give MAB a rematch, but he needs to fight JMM first. MAB looked so hungry, Morales looked the same. MAB looked pissed too. Morales has a lot of heart and took some good punches, MAB wanted it more. That is not a put down to either fighter, they are both awesome fighters. I thank them both for a worth while PPV. I do not feel bad shelling out 45.00 for their performances.

If MAB rematches Pac, then we will get to see if Pac just happened to get to MAB on his worst night or if Pac's work rate is really what stopped Barerra.

In the rematch, Barera will not let Pac get off that many unanswered punches, and the victor will be the man that boxes better.

Im sure Barrera will be the one chasing PacMan now, beating morales is not enough . he reelevated his status after this big fight . . but the ghost of last year when he was bombarded with different sort of punches from the pac will haunt him unless he beat up this helluva fighter . . this is the only way to redeem himself . .

Barrerra's one of those rare fighters who does not let a loss (and some of his have been quite brutal) affect his confidence. I have to admire that about the man.

That fight only proves that MAB is not a "washed out" fighter as some quarters are claiming. Now it's time to settle the score with Pac. If pac get past JMM comes February then a MAB fight should be next.

MAB is really impressive on this one as he comes out of the first bell with both hands blazing . . . but can he do that to Pac? If he EMPLOYS the same strategy against Pac . . . then that fight won't last more than 3 rounds . . . one of them will be lying on the canvas.

The MAB win over Morales has really shaken up both the feather & the superfeather divisions. Now MAb has added some credibility to his excuse that he had an offnight in the fight against Pac.....

on the other side though it gives even more credibilty to Pacquio's performance. double edged sword mate!

Guys what we all do have to accomodate for here is the hatred factor. Every so often boxing will throw up a rivalry that is so bitter and so entwined it becomes fistic history. Form goes out the window and these guys want to win so bad, they can summon up form that everyone thought was years gone.

Benn V eubank, Ali Frazier (look at the thrilla in manila as a prime example) to name but two. So what morales may do to another fighter he may not do to Marco. As we know a lot of boxing is psychological and I feel MAB just gets to Eric too much.

Having said that it was still a very close fight, correct decision though.

                    Legends both of them.
