And Pacquiao comes in at 149. Cotto and Marquez call each other up and crash the fight.

So many people say Floyd can easily make the weight, so if he makes the weight, he doesn't have to worry about the fine.

I'd have done the same exact thing seeing as how Floyd failed to honor his contract in his last fight and paid a measly 600gs.

The only people upset with this are Floyd stans who want Floyd to come in overweight and pay a minimal fee for doing so.
no 1 is upset its just ****** this isnt a catchweight fight..but hey put it in the contract if you wanna waste your time

For fear of being outsmarted by Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao, by way of his lawyer Franklin Gacal, said in a text message late Tuesday night in the Philippines that the Filipino fighter will be “demanding a penalty of $10 million per pound or a fraction thereof over and above 147 lbs during the weighin” in relation to the March 13, 2010 fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Gacal, however, made it clear that the “penalty applies to both fighters”, meaning if Pacquiao fails to make weight, he will also be forced to cough out the same amount.

Against Juan Manuel Marquez last September, Mayweather was compelled to pay Marquez a total of $600,000 for coming in at 146 lbs. The agreed weight was 144 lbs. Mayweather went on to beat the overpowered Mexican on a lopsided 12-round decision. It is unclear if Mayweather will agree to what appears to be an over-the-top demand by Team Pacquiao. Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions are staging the fight and a formal annoucement is being awaited anytime this week. Both fighters are guaranteed a purse of $25 million each and their total earnings can go up to as high as $40 million apiece.

I guess they figure if Floyd's camp is gonna make demands on drug testing, they'll make demands on weight. Sounds like each side is just making sure no one has the upper hand. 10 mil is a bit excessive though.

lol @ people thinking this fight is even about a belt. Don't none of these motha****ers actually care about the belt. its just a ****en accessory at this point. Floyd aint fighting Pacquiao because he has a belt. Cmon now.

I believe Floyd will agree to this.
It's a smart move to a smart move.

Paq's camp brings this 10 million notion to light...
Reason? To gain psychological edge that indicates that they are wise to possible "dirty tactics" inregards to weight advantange.

The smart response is to confidently reply "yes, I agree to that."
If....(and that's a big IF)....this was ever a tactic that Floyd intended to use, it's obviously being looked for. His best counter is to agree and forego any attempts at that tactic. IF that's what he intended to do.

146 vs. Marquez. I'm likely to believe that he'll meet in at 147, and can.

                    Catchweight or not,

over the limit is over the limit.

If Floyd can easily make the weight as so many of you say,

why is this such a problem?

He is, as so many of you say, "Money May". I'm sure ten milly here and there is no problem to someone who named himself after money.
