Will Pacquiao's "High Work Rate" really be the difference?

I keep hearing all of this talk about how Pacquiao's work rate will be too much for Mayweather and it made me think back to the old saying...."styles make fights". Now Pac's work rate was very effective vs many or all of his opponents except for Juan Manuel Marquez due to his exceptional counter punching ability and high boxing IQ. I looked up the punch stat information for both of their fights and found them very interesting......I know people are going to say..."those fights are old" but these fights are the perfect fights to show that Pac's aggression can be nullified and used against him especially when he is about to face another great right handed counter puncher.........its about the style of fighting that caught my interest in this subject.......anyone with sense knows that Diaz,DLH,Hatton & Cotto arent counter punchers so using their fights against Pac is pointless..........

    Pacquiao-Marquez 1

    Total Punches

Manny landed 148 of 639 total punches

Marquez landed 158 of 547 total punches

    Power Punches

    Manny landed 100 of 231

    Marquez landed 122 of 339

    Pacquiao-Marquez 2

    Total Punches

Manny landed 157 of 619 total punches

Marquez landed 172 of 511 total punches

    Power Punches

    Manny landed 114 of 305

    Marquez landed 130 of 310

This Video is a compilation of ALL the counter punches that Marquez was able to land on Pac in both fights. This is a prime example of how easy it will be for Mayweather to counter Pacquiao's "AGGRESSION/HIGH WORK RATE".

Although Manny threw 100 more punches than Marquez in both fights he was still out landed in total punches and in Power Shots. This should be a red flag to Team Pac because along with them both being counter punching genius's, Mayweather is a far superior boxer than Marquez & has a much better defense. Marquez was able to nullify Pac's high work rate with accurate counter punching throughout both fights. The difference between Marquez & Mayweather is that Mayweather won't be in front of Pac as much as Marquez, which will in turn cut Pac's work rate in half. IMO I dont think a high work rate is the key to beating Mayweather....in fact EVERY fighter that Mayweather has fought has thrown more punches than he has and it hasn't worked.....

It all depends on the judges bro. If they favor the aggressor or not. Look the 2 examples you gave. Did Pac lose those fights? It depends what the judges favor. Where in close rounds Pac work rate could be the difference even though be affective. But, just cuz he is the aggressor he might win those close rounds.

I think it can be. Every punch manny throws at mayweather while he is against the ropes will cause a huge roar of cheers from all the fans present, which could very well sway judges opinions on the rounds.

Manny won the fights from the knock downs....look at the knock downs and tell me would Mayweather ever be in any of those positions to be knocked down?

I am talking about him getting countered to death by an older/slower/less defensive counter punching Marquez

Now, imagine if Marquez would have tied up after landing those combinations or taken a step back. Things would have been much different.

but the Pac-Marquez fights were decided on knock downs....it was very apparent who won the most rounds other then the knock down rounds.

he threw over 100 punches and still landed less total punches and less power punches then Marquez......you dont believe Mayweather who is more superior in skills can emulate that?...

You are right. We have heard the same thing everytime Mayweather fights. What they have all said in the past was 'pressure.pressure will break Mayweather'.All Ariza is saying is the same thing in different words,he calls this workrate.Workrate isnt anything when you are missing and getting caught in the way. What makes it worse is Mayweather makes you look bad as you miss even in the eyes of the judges. This is how he manages to have fighters work at his pace. After missing and getting caught you try to adjust. As for Manny, those angles mean nothing because he hasnt changed as a fighter. He still has the same style,in and out ,in and out then the hook to the chin.Mayweather aint dump,he will dismantle Pacquiao.Come March 13,everyone will say 'Pacquiao was overated'.

People have had cotton wool pulled over their eyes.Pacquiao hasnt improved,he has been well matched in fighting people who are in front of him to hit.Marquez owned him,Floyd will put him away.He jumps in and Floyd will definitely put him down and switch his lights off.He will use Manny's momentum againts him, actually he's a perfect candidate of the check hook.
