I'm watchin the same show. I can't imagine how crazy a crowd would go if fights were still like this. I also can't imagine how much more brain damage these guys inflicted on each other with the rules that were in place.

Yeah man thqt one round he went down like 5 times in quick succession. And jack would be standing on top of him waiting for him to stand back up

Another crazy thing about Dempsey is he could draw 100,000 people to a fight. And that was in a time when the population was just a fraction of what it is today. The drawing power he had isn't even measurable today. He'd be right in asking for 90% of the purse in any fight he was involved in.

dempsey was vicious and had a pinoeering technique with that dempsey roll, the thing is, yall hate fighters who dont defend belts or cherry pick fights, but dempsey was without question guilty of that to the fullest, fighting exhibitions and doing all kinds of acting and sideshows as opposed to defending the belt. dude went i think 2 years while holding the belt hostage.

And, also ducked the hell out of Sam Langford. It was a disgrace. Langford would of done to him what Gene Tunney did. But, much much worse.

How come Jack Dempsey is known more throughout the history of boxing than Gene Tunney?

I think Tunney was the far better fighter
