Hasegawa is so underrated to be honest...if he does beat John, he should be top 5 at least.....

First of all, as big of a Paul Williams fan as I am, I think he maybe should be at about #6 now even though I did have him in the top five. He dropped a couple spots on my list after that shaky performance against Martinez. The reason why I had him so high to begin with is because he was a lot more active than Mosley and Hopkins and he beat Winky Wright more impressively than Hopkins did without making him move up in weight. If Williams would've beaten Martinez impressively, I would have put him over Mayweather, Hopkins, and Mosley. We'll have to see how Mosley does against Berto and what Bernard's next move is before I form a solid conclusion about Williams' place on the list.

Also, Chad Dawson should be at about #10 because Bradley has been a lot more active than he has. I'm disappointed with how infrequently Dawson fights.

A lot more active? He had one more fight in 2009. He had more in 08 but wasn't in the title stage until the second half of the year.

As to Williams, I don't hold it against him that he didn't win more decisively. I chock that up to Martinez being a bad ass.

I personally think letting the two face off, with dulled reflexes and age, for a fourth time is sadism.

Couldn't agree more with you, Cliff, we don't need to see that fight.

And once again, respect for putting Hase at #8. The guy deserves recognition.

The Take: Williams continues to find new ways to impress. In his last outing, he was hurt badly and dropped at the end of the first round and yet found a way, a will, to win by night’s end even if the scoring of the fight left the verdict with a less than ‘official’ feel. That the fight with Sergio Martinez took place at all is just as impressive. In a situation like what Williams found himself in, when a crack at World Middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik fell apart, many a fighter would have looked for a placeholder opponent until the money fight could be resuscitated. Williams instead took on one of the elite Jr. Middleweights in the world and wound up in a Fight of the Year candidate. Few big names have had interest in Martinez just as few, once upon a time, had much interest in Antonio Margarito. Williams is building a big name by being the interested party and keeps passing tests. Avenging a loss? Williams came back from a decision defeat to stop Quintana in one round. Pushing aside the past? Williams became the first man to stop Phillips since the Reagan Administration and shut out Winky Wright. Now we’ve seen just how much heart he has in the Martinez war. He’s a fluid, exciting offensive fighter but lapses in defense could prove problematic if, in 2010, the heavy handed Pavlik ends up in the other corner as expected. If he can win there, he’s already said he’d be happy to do a rematch with Martinez. The one-time Welterweight (who still claims he can make it that far down the scale) is poised for a make or break year in terms of just how elite he will be.

If he moved up and beat John, as Ring alluded to over the weekend as a possibility, he'd jump a hell of a lot higher than that. That's a big if still. I'd expect, if he leaves 118, a fight with Nishioka at 22.

Possibly, but its also the recipe for the greatest fight of all time. Look what Ali and Frazier accomplished in their last meeting at an advanced age.

I saw enough in their third. That fight was awesome. Neither Ali nor Frazier struggled with someone like Angel Priolo prior to Manila; only after (for Ali anyways; Frazier was all but done).

Any P4P list that has Calderon ranked over Adamek, Martinez, or Roman Gonzales for that matter has no credibility.
