Im calling it now. Juanma is damaged goods. He will never be the same fighter he was before his life and death struggle with Rogers Mtagwa.

Antonio Margarito beat it out of Miguel Cotto, Julio Cesar Chavez beat it out of Meldrick Taylor, and Rogers Mtagwa beat it out of Juan Manuel Lopez.

WBO super bantamweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez suffered an ankle injury on Wednesday but his trainer says the injury is minor and won't prevent the January 23 title shot at featherweight champion Steve Luevano. Juanma sprained his right ankle when he was walking down the strairs of his house. He was forced to modify his training camp routine for a few days. [Click Here To Read More]

Thank god the fight wasn't canceled. I can still go see it live.

          Shawn Porter
          Tomasz Adamek
          Hasewaga

          Mario Santiago
Like him or not, Lopez's promotional machine has built him a real reputation. Whether his status as a future P4P type guy is warranted or not, fact remains that he sells WAY more tickets than all the other guys you mentioned including Adamek. The other cats are all good (possibly great) fighters, but still hardly on the map at this point. The only thing that HBO considers when evaluating who "deserves" these prescious and limited dates is who puts asses in seats, and who's future options will bear fruit in the future. Whether Lopez is a better fighter than the others makes no difference in terms the fact that he DOES deserve HBO exposure.

A little early with that prediction, but I've had that same nagging suspicion since the Mtagwa fight. I still don't want to write him off just yet 'cuz he showed real balls in that fight in terms of trading when he should have held or retreated. He was lucky to escape w/ his "0" in tact, but really did behave like a true fighter.

They go by who has the most fans and not the most talent, and that's unfair.

News Flash: Boxing is the most UNFAIR sport on the planet! (I do share your sentiments though)

He definitely needs to fight Caballero, otherwise he looks like a better version of ATG DUCKER FMJ! He's embarrassing himself after all the talk of fighting Caba in January, and he did a lot of trash talk saying he would shut Caballero's mouth up! We'll see.

Gatti didn't have the best skills but put a lot of ppl into the seats. Greatness of a fighter is not the hype is who he fights and if he wins. Beating bum might be entertaining (remember Butterbean?) but it is not gonna put you in the history books. I think Juama fell to much in love with his power and as you see you cannot KO everybody out
