after seeing the shots pac took from cotto, i dont think a prime dlh couldve done any better. the fight wouldve been a hella lot more competetive, with manny taking more shots, but prime oscar would end up getting beat up by pac in the long run just as bad.

Against Mayweather, Oscar was already far downhill, but not as shot
as he showed himself to be against Forbes. Oscar was furthermore
weight-drained when he faced Pac, but the effects of weight loss
shouldn't have been as bad. Basically, Oscar made weight too early
in training, making it almost impossible to rehydrate properly after
      the official weigh-in.

Did Pac face a shot, weight-drained Oscar? Yes, absolutely.
      Roach says so.

Did Pac win a legitimate victory? Yes, again, absolutely.
No one forced Oscar to lose weight so ******ly, or to lose weight
at all. Virtually everyone on NSB was screaming mismatch, and hey,
147 was a very fair compromise, halfway between Pac and Oscar.
Remember that it was big Oscar who called out little Pac.

      As for what-ifs:

Even haters here were agreeing Cotto would be the first real test,
the first non-shot, quality opposition Pac would face, and Pac beat
Cotto in a manner that suggests that even if the Oscar who had
      faced Mayweather had shown up
      , same weight and skill/talent,
Pac probably still would have won anyway.

Who's saying Pac hasn't the speed and power to have hurt Oscar?
The movement to avoid too many hits?
The chin to have withstood Oscar's shots?

      h.

He had nothing to rehydrate into thats why he went up only 2 pound instead of his usual 12-14 pounds , a result of training too light and his training weight being to light for too long , he made a big mistake in training as light as he did , he should have trained heavier and dehydrated more for the weigh-in and then he would have rehydrated back to a higher weight than he did because his body would have had substance , maybe ODH cant manipulate water that much you wouldnt know unless you were close to his camp ,,,, but to go up only 2 pounds in 30 hrs after the weigh-in is a training disaster , he was dead man walking !!

You need to start paying serious attention next time you want to analyse a fight.

Roach learned after the fight against Mayweather that Oscar couldn't throw. Oscar blamed Roach for the wrong game plan but you could sense he was on a decline. Roach used that particular fight against DLH when Oscar met Pacquiao. Oscar didn't even look good against Forbes. Also, Oscar hasn't been at 147 since '97. If you've fought at a competitive level, being it as amateur or pro, you would know what being "drained" literally means. And I'm sure you saw the fight on HBO yourself? You must have heard that even Emanuel Steward commented on how physically weak Oscar looked...

Being lighter (or drained for that matter) doesn't automatically make you faster. It's like saying lifting weight makes you slower and that's not (always) the case. See Hopkins at light heavy and you know what I mean.

I'm not taking anything away from Manny's win over De La Hoya but Manny's fans act like he beat the same De La Hoya who once fought against Trinidad or Vargas (e.g.)...
