No he didn't actually check the record it was not at 168 and besides they were both career MWs.......he has not proven **** at SMW and now you think he should go in as a viable opponent against the best one in the world or at least one of the best?

what is HBO? a promotional company? a sanctioning body? Just cause HBo wants it doesn't mean there's a mandate for it.

AA can't make 168 lbs anymore that's why he moved up. pavlik can still make 160 lbs.

once again, there's no mandate for it, therefore, it doesn't have to happen, therefore it's not a duck. You can't duck someone that's not in your weight division

Taylor has looked like a total beast at 168 tho too.

So he should fight Sturm who lost his last fight? I didn't see his fight with Gevor. But it was probably a worse decision that Paul's over Martinez. Sturm sucks.

Well Sturm got the nod even though he lost but other than Gevor and Paul he is the most legit opponent at MW and has a title. He does not suck and really just fought the wrong fight against Gevor. Before that fight Sturm could claim to have beaten everyone he ever fought.

              this doesn't mean there's a mandate for pavlik/butte

Just because there isn't a mandate for it doesn't mean that Pavlik should get a pass for totally ignoring him though. He can't beat him. Period.

So what if he couldn't but one of the best fighters in a division above him? What would it mean if Bute couldn't beat Dawson? in both cases nothing much.

regardless of whether pavlik can beat butte or not, there is no mandate for it because they do not occupy the same division, thus no duckage.

its pretty safe to say that if someone is not in your weight division you can choose to ignore them if you want.

For boxing fans a lot of you are totally ignorant on the business and how you build for the future.

1-Pavlik/Williams will happen. After that the winner will probably fight Sergio Martinez.

2-HBO invested in Bute because they saw the talent and realized that Kelly is looking to move up and the majority of the talent in that weight class is locked in to the Super Six. By investing in Bute and promoting his next few fights they build him up and make the promotion of Pavlik/Bute a whole lot easier.

3-Don't believe Kelly? Look into staph infections and reactions to antibiotics. His story is totally believable.

4-Pavlik Taylor was at 164 If I recall.
