Why do they say Martinez was robbed??

I just watched the fight closely on High Definition today again and this is how I scored it.

    Martinez: 1,2,3,8,9

    Williams: 4,5,6,7,10,11,12

(keep in mind that the first round could have went either way. IMO it was a tie but I'm gonna give it to Martinez for having the flashier knockdown)

Williams dominated the fight after the third round. He showed more heart and more will to win. All Martinez did was run around and hope to land a few clean counters and win rounds solely on that. He didn't make the fight and he certainly didn't try to take the Win away from Williams.

I can understand when one says that it was a close fight...but a robbery??? Cmon...

It was a close fight that you could have had either man up 7-5 no more than that. The robbery was when one judge had it 109-119. Clearly he had that card made out before the fight giving Martinez a slim chance of winning if the other 2 judges had not seen it in his favor.

Give me a ****ing break pitty patting is not what should be called domination. Martinez landed the clean punches and the harder ones. Now I don't remember what exact rounds I gave who but Martinez clearly won the fight and the most Williams deserved was a draw. I had 7-5 Martinez watching it live and 8-4 after the replay.

Yea that was definitely de****able how that judge scored it.

I couldn't see Martinez for a 7-5 though. The most I could have given him would be a 6-6

That would be fine as it was close......I hope they fight again, but maybe Paul is going to look to get that Pavlik fight now and I wouldn't blame him.

8-4??? what are you smoking dude? Tell me which rounds Martinez won and which rounds Williams won... I really wanna hear this because I honestly believe you're talking out of your ass

watch the fight again and score it realistically this time. If you can't score it on your own, then just follow Ledderman's card.

It was a clear 7-5 win for Williams though. You really have to watch the fight carefully to understand.

              Two things.

              1. That one judge who only gave ONE ROUND to Martinez. That pretty much ruined it all.

              2. There is a strong bias against Williams on this site, particularly from the hispanic posters.

I had Williams winning 115-113, but I could see it being scored 115-113 Martinez or 114-114.

              Hope to see a rematch.

I really wanna see them fight again as well and this time I believe the fight can go either way especially if......Martinez trains harder and shows more workrate or Williams fights with more precision and improves on his defense(or at least learns how to beat that counter-right hand)

I think Williams already got an idea of how to beat Martinez this time around though. I think hje will adjust like he adjusted to the second Quintana fight and make this fight easier for him this time around

Oh yea definitely man...I hate when posters stop behaving like boxing fans and resort to little kid tactics just because they don't like a fighter or for the fact that they like to see him loose

This board would be a lot more pleasant if we behaved more like boxing fans and told things like they really were.

It will probably go the same way as last time as they both did what they do best. Martinez hits, moves, counters with that striaght left and hooks. PWill looks to swamp you and wear you down with his workrate. The speed and movement disrupted Paul's work rate considerably. Just compare between that fight and Winky Wright, he maybe threw almost half the punches as he did in that fight and it was because he did not have a stationary target to hit and had to go after him.
