Why is Cotto short for 154, but not Porter?

Is it because Cotto is an elite fighter and he would be facing elite 154 pounders like Williams, Martines, and El Perro? Enlighten me boxing scene. I personally don't want to see Cotto at 154.

Porter is faster than Cotto, for one. And it remains to be seen if he's too short for 54 or not. Won't know till he steps it up in a couple of years.

He's not just fast he is a strong dude. Very explosive, strong, fast, and a beast so far from what I have seen. I was just wondering

I wanna see Cotto at 154lbs

good fights for Cotto at 154lbs are:

        Yuri Foreman (title fight)
        Alfredo Angulo
        Paul Williams
        Sergio Mora
        Cory Spinks (Title fight)
        Kermit Cintron

he's got a good shot at beating all those guys..not saying he would but he could..if he gets his corner back and goes to the body like the OLD COTTO!..

Porter started at 165 according to boxrec and his reach is better than Cotto's I believe. So you can't make a comparasion since Cotto comes from smaller weight classes. The guy to look at is Duran and he look out of shape and fat at 154. Both Duran and Cotto have similar body builds and both were smaller WW when they fought in those divisions.

Porter is bigger than Cotto but I also think Porter is too short if 154 had any good fighters there

Winnable if Cotto somehows finds his old self.Do you think Cotto's power will be better at 154 compare to his last few fights? I don't know. What about his speed? Really don't know. It might help him or it could go very bad but he says he only has two fights left so why not go for it? I still have my doubts if that would be the best move tbh with you.

Cotto will keep fighting..trust me..especially if he gets his momentum back..right not he's on the edge..if he goes to 154lbs and beats Foreman and defends it by beating..say Cintron, Martinez or even Williams..Cotto is the MAN again..and he'll have that momentum on his side again..

then he'll have Mosley going to 154lbs, Pacquiao or Mayweather going for their 7th or 8th div title..etc..

and to answer your questions..Cotto has never really had that speed...his timing is what helped him with those swift quick fighters..but he also slowed them down by taggin them to the body..his power will probably increase and be NASTY cuz he'll probably be about 160-163 on fight night..comfortable..only thing is he needs to pace himself..and make his shots count..ultimately..I think he needs his corner back..Evangelista with Cotto at 154lbs would be GREAT!..I got faith in that..
