Demarco has enough to strech out the fight with Valero and see how he does in the later rounds. I'm not sold on Valero yet, he leaves himself wide open for counters. If he fought a quality top opponent that can move a bit and a decent punch I would take him more seriously.
At the same time I'm really surprised that he hasn't been taught a "lesson" even for a few rounds, before he TKO's his opponent.
I think Manny would slaughter him, although he might change his style and be a bit more careful for Manny.
At the same time, I've watched a few of his fights, and have seen him hit squarely and strongly on the jaw, and he didn't even notice it......??
Sooooo... what might that signify......???Comment

Yes, Valero leaves himself wide open when he starts throwing those wild shots, but the opposition, instead of taking a brief moment to stand and hit, is too busy covering up or running.

The reason he said that is that he gave all Pac's sparring partners complete hell and when he sparred Pac, Pac changed his opinion of him being average.
He's not hype because he's knocked people out as much as his reputation in Southern Cal gyms where he's worked some very good guys.
He's fallen in love with his power, this is true, and has gotten reckless as hell at times, but it's worked so far.
As soon as someone makes him box, I am sure he will.
They just haven't done that yet.Comment

He reminds me of a southpaw Tszyu with more aggression and less technique. He can get away with it for a while because most B, B+ opponents don't deal well with powerful lefties but once he faces elite opposition he had better get his defensive game in order.Comment

mosquera.....world champion rated #4 by the ring.....Valero won by KO...
pitalua......monstrous puncher doming off his biggest win(KO5 Santa Cruz) rated #5 by the ring(shoulda been higher)..........Valero won by KO.......
how is demarco a step up??/because youve seen im on showtime??DeMarco is #9 in the division....a prospect who was looking ordinary and having problems with journeymen before his last fight(in which he looked smart and impressive, but not really a monster)
the only step up for valero is the fact that demarco is probably the biggest fighter he's ever fought.....
valero will win by KO in 3
His straight left to the body looks painful but he doesn't seem to use it much in favor of headhunting most times. He has already beat up Oscar who is similar in size to DeMarco and defensively superior despite being an orthodox boxer.Comment
