all you have to do is look at Tyson right after he parted ways with Rooney. Even before his first loss, Tyson's skills started to noticably fade. Prime Tyson with Rooney is close to unbeatable IMO. only lewis could've beaten that tyson.
you didnt mention the brain..when someone stood up to tyson he was a *****. These fighters would stand up to tyson and he would turn to a ***** in the ring....Just listen to teddy Atlas and what he would say on this subject. He even said tyson would go crazy on lennox in the press confrence because he was scared of lennox and he would try to find a way to get out

And lets not take resume's into consideration. Let's consider only their size and skills.

ps: I got the inspiration for this thread from the "Greatest heavyweight ever...realistically?" thread, so before anyone blasts me for copying that thread, I am already aware of it. I just wanted to make it a little more specific with a poll.
you sould have called this thread HW tournement - not ATG

I voted Ali, and probably would no matter who the 6 fighters where, but I dont really agree with your six. Not at all, honestly. Where is Jack Johnson? Dempsey?

I really think Ali would lose to the best versions of Vitali, Lewis and Tyson. I wonder if he would be perceived as the greatest if he himself didn't keep saying it and putting the idea into everyone's heads. He was great no doubt but was very flawed and by modern HW standards more beatable.

yeah, tyson was also scared and even cried before his 1st amateur fight. He won that fight in a record 8 second ko.

sure tyson didn't have the right mental stamina, but he had the right trainers to guide him. when he lost that, he lost himself.

Ali and Holmes would get in their toes and frustrate this group. Louis, vastly underrated would be a live underdog.

I think this thread was aptly named. This tourney would decide who is the best HW to ever live IMO. Best 6 names that could be on that list according to logic.

well logically speaking, holyfield can't be in this poll. He lost to Bowe, and Bowe ducked Lewis because he WOULD have lost to him as he did in the olympics. So the best of Holyfield's era would be Lewis. Putting Holyfield or even Bowe on a list where logically speaking they would be assured to lose against at least one of the other fighters in the poll just wouldn't make sense.

CO Sign.....I would say there has not been one single dominating HW in the recent era. Wlad and Vitali have shared that spot light through out their careers. When Vitali was absent from Boxing Wlad was on the come back after being Ko'd I still think Wlad is vey vulnerable to a pressure style fighter with a good haed movement. Vitali to me has not looked that dominating in any fight with viable competition. I rather see HOlyfield on that list then either of them. I would say Mike Tyson was from 1986-1990 Followed by Evander Holyfield from 1991-1998 Followed by Lennox Lewis from 1999-2003 This is not based on resumes simply based on beating the man who beat the man. Ridduck Bowe woud have been an ATG if he kept in shape and prepared himself better. The fights with Gollata and HolyField took miles out of him. I think a prime Bowe, Lewis, Tyson, and Holyfield all destroy either Vitali or Wlad. As for the list you gave me I voted for Ali beats Tyson 2 out of 3 times....Ali would have to fight a perfect fight to beat Mike and he would be able to 4 out of 6 days while resting on Friday.....Lefty
