Oh I agree. My point was that there is a case that can be made that he was not the best of his era. I am not saying I would make that case. But, I am saying there could be a case made.

Read OP..... Skill set, not resume.

I'd argue that by the time Tyson was fighting top HWs (Lewis, Holyfield), he was fcked up in the head.

Early 20's Tyson KO's all of them except Foreman.

My bad I miss Joe Louis.

And, sir you really underrating Jack. The man was defensive genious. had good power, good footwork, good stamina. The man could go 20rds with ease. And, he was not that small.

Ali beats Louis(who upset Klitschko) by unan decision, then wins a convincing split decision over Holmes in the final.

I have to disagree on all points especially defense. his hands were always low and he was flat footed. and I would even have to say his power is overrated considering the hard gloves that they used back then a fighter with any decent power shouldn't allow a fight to go past 5 rounds let alone 20. I know the teeth in the glove story, but still, with those gloves having fights go past 20 rounds shows a lack of power.

it's not about resume. it's about physical abilities, size and skill. basically just judging with your eyes instead of whats on paper. tyson was a perfect force combining power, speed, aggression and defensive head movements all in one motion.

all you have to do is look at Tyson right after he parted ways with Rooney. Even before his first loss, Tyson's skills started to noticably fade. Prime Tyson with Rooney is close to unbeatable IMO. only lewis could've beaten that tyson.
