Would you take the biggest fight of your career on less than one months notice when you're the mandatory and should have a full preparation? Would you then also take a ****ty paycheck for that?

Marquez was also considered one of the biggest prospects in the sport at that stage. Lower ranking than some, but like Mayweather before fighting G. Hernandez etc he was a much bigger name already. Steward openly admits today that he deliberately did everything possible to make that fight not happen.

he should have took the fight. it wasn't less than one month notice either. he had a little bit more time than that.

and it wasn't a ****ty paycheck. it was more than he was making at the time.
