they might not be as good as jmm with hindsight but at the time they were ranked higher than jmm.
hamed fought a lot of top ranked guys.
none of them had lasting names though that's why people think hamed fought nobodies.
fact is those times marquez was his mandatory , he fought guys who people ranked higher than marquez.
now we can say marquez was way better than them but that wasn't the case back then.
funny thing about those ranked fighters you speak of is that the WBO was the IBO of the 90's. and even then, we all know ratings are ****, would mayweather get off the hook for fighting saul alvarez because hes ranked #5 at welterweight by the WBC?
Originally posted by Left Hook Tua View Posthe should have took the fight. it wasn't less than one month notice either. he had a little bit more time than that.
and it wasn't a ****ty paycheck. it was more than he was making at the time.
ignacio said it was $400,000 and it wasn't enough.Last edited by Zarco; 12-17-2009, 11:28 PM.

I posted the clips of them saying it.
Shall I bumpeth the thread??
Nobody wanted any part of JMM in his prime. Plain and simple. Like nobody will fight Sergio Martinez right now.
Too good, not enough reward.

They talked about this on the HBO Countdown to Marquez-Barrera.
At first, Hamed and his management weren't exactly eager to face Marquez. Then later, they did offer him a fight, but Marquez (by the choice of Nacho) rejected the offer.

morales offered marquez a fight too.
marquez turned it down as well.
