Eh. I see where the analogy is coming from but IMO it's a bit different than that. At this point, LeBron and KG are worlds more athletic than Kobe and Duncan(well KG isn't more athletic than Kobe, but he is over Duncan. Also Kobe's footwork and skills are better than LeBron's, but he isn't smarter than LeBron). I don't think that's quite the case here. IMO a better analogy would be:
Floyd is Hakeem Olajuwon
Manny is Manny SHAQiao. lol.
Both of these when they were more or less in their primes. Shaq/Manny is just a dominator, using both his speed and strength to destroy people offensively. Hakeem/Floyd is just as athletic, but not as strong and their specialty is an absolute art form. Hakeem's dream shake and Floyd's shoulder roll technique. Hakeem is also better defensively than Shaq, just like Floyd is better defensively than Pacquiao. I think that would be the best analogy, all things considered.
And just so no one jumps on me, I'm not basing this on the fact that Hakeem's team swept Shaq's team in the Finals. I'm looking at Shaq a few years after that, and though I think Floyd will win, it won't be a "sweep".Comment

LMAO! I suppose you thought Pavlik would have beat Hopkins too-lol. You guys are only Pacquiao fans, not fans of boxing.Do your research, you will find that Manny's last 4 wins have been against people with major disadvantages (all 4 of his last opponents are one handed fighters, past their primes and 2 of them who are naturally heavier were shrunk down to weights they haven't been at for years.Combine that with a "come-forward" style and that's a recipe for disaster).Floyd is not at any form of disadvantage.Yes, Mayweather may be the smartest boxer today. But in the case of the upcoming Pacman/Mayweather match, his boxing "IQ" won't matter at all. Like I've said in the past, there has been way too much emphasis being placed on Floyd's victories over lesser opponents. When he faces the Pacman, Pretty Boy will encounter his toughest challenge ever. This won't be no Marquez, Gatti, De La Hoya, etc.,etc. cakewalk fight for him. You can bet that his team is pouring over videos of the Pacman's fights. Don't follow in his arrogance in believing that his upcoming fight will be easy. I won't be surprised to see him completely knocked out or beaten up by the Pacman. Pretty Boy is gonna get a reality check in the worst way. JAT
Manny's only chance is to get a lucky punch within 3-4 rounds, otherwise Floyd figures him out.
This time Manny is against a guy who has speed, countering skills, and most importantly-a good straight right-(notice Pacquiao's last 4 opponents didn't have that right hand,in fact you have to go 5 fights ago to see he fought against Marquez,a right handed counter puncher who got robbed in that fight).Comment

Floyd is going to beat Manny up over 12 rounds. I just really hope these pinoys don't go crazy and try to shut down the site, you know Pinoy's run this site.Comment

so we've established that having a strategy is goodI don't particularly want to change the conversation to politics -- but we did go in with a strategy. Notice how quickly Saddam was taken out of power. What we didn't have, according to arm chair soldiers, was an EXIT strategy.
As far as dealing with the aftermath -- there can be no pre-war strategy.
You deal with it the best you can.
And, going into a battle with a strategy of how to leave if things aren't working well has never been a high priority until the post-Vietnam chattering class decided that it was.Comment

I would love to see this kind of thread be visited again after the fight, as there are a lot of threads like these before Manny's fight and it seems that after the fight the threadstarter and his compatriots abandoned it, when Pac fans comes back to visit all the crap it is already like a ghost town.Comment
