I remember after Hopkins beat Tito and couldnt get the RJ fight. He was talking then about fighting Toney at 190 and both of them were going back & forths in the media talking **** and talking about which one is uglier. That **** was so funny. The fight went away after Hopkins talked to Hagler and Hagler told him not to let anyone make him move away from MW if he doesnt want to. He probably couldnt go to 190 at that time but he shouldnt have listened to Hagler either because he shouldve moved up to SMW or LHW at that time instead of taking those 2 losses to Taylor. I believe with how good he wouldve looked at LHW, maybe him & Toney really couldve fought at 190 after that and it wouldve been a classic because Toney was still a beast at that time too
it will be the first fight where hopkins cant bully the opponent
because the experience level is almost equal. all the guys hopkins
fought did not have his experience so he could intimidate them rotfl
toney is smart. he didnt want to let hopkins do what roy jones did
get a quick shot at the heavyweight belt without fighting anyone to earn it
toney has been fighting so many heavyweight contenders more than david haye has and he still cant get a shot. why should hopkins get a shot at haye
and not toney ...
Toney can talk, and he'll get the attention. i'm just concerned about his future in a division where he's no longer relevant. last time i saw him he looked like he was on the decline. or is he? what are we to think? i believe in comebacks so more power to Toney. if he says he's healthy then i believe him.
I cant say that Toney is fully past it until he sucks at a lower weight. I think most of him looking crappy just has to do with him being fat. If he gets his weight down and still looks crappy, then I will say that he's past it. Sounds like last fight he was back in shape again and he claims that he still is even though IDK if I beleive that or not
