Whats with all the racial tensions in boxing?

More than any other sport in the world i feel that boxing has so much racial hate in it.

I understand it is a one person sport and that many of the times the fighters represent their country or heritage. But it astounds me that people really believe that certain races are superior.

    Racism:
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice or discrimination

It seems so much rides on race or creed and not so much the boxer anymore and it disturbs me.

Im all for pride in your country(i mean look at my name and sig). But to hate someone else because they are from another country is pathetic. There are good fighters from all over the world and we dont have to choose who we like based off of nationality or race.

I recently read a thread stating Salita was very suprised by the hostility of the ****** crowd(how bad it was maybe a little exagerrated). This is loosely what i mean.
Not saying this is the case with Khan by any means, but when you support a fighter that represents a larger crowd you have to take wins and losses with dignity. By bashing the rival fighters fans based on religion, creed, or race is shallow and ridiculous.

Also to say that a race is superior or obsolete is ridiculous also.

This thread also goes to all of those who say that a slick black fighter is the only winning fighter. ****ing ridiculous.

Edit: removed parts that maybe misunderstood for Khan bias.

          No.

There was no ' ****** ' crowd. It was just the general public hating on Salita, like they do against every foreign challenger.

Especially when it was Dirrell-Froch. The weigh-in video had a few guys shouting racist taunts to Dirrell while he weighed-in. There was no spitting or pulling.

But he shouldn't expect anything less than a hostile crowd.

Plus the fact Salita is an American doesn't help things.

none the less racial slurs and nationality hating is ridiculous even though it happens.

I understand hating a fighter because he is fighting against someone you support. but to criticize based on race and/or nationality is ridiculous.

i cannot figure out why its gotten to the point where you insult or put down anyone who is challenging your favorite...

im all for supporting my chosen teams/fighters, but it doesnt mean im going to insult or put down someone else

You don't think they really mean all that hate.

It's just to make the opponent feel uneasy. Which obviously worked. If he's such a sensitive ****, he should change career.

Is there really that much racism? Isn't it just pride and patriotism sometimes gone to far?
