Abdulaev is pretty old , you know. He is 31 or something but i agree, kudo's to Cotto on fighting good live body and not taking on bruiselesses of the business.

I also pick Cotto to beat Abdulaev. The amateurs are very different from the pros!

I looked at Abdulaev’s record on BoxRec.. out of 15 of his wins.. 12 are by the way of KO/TKO, one went to UD (His first Pro 4 round fight)
But two by the way of disqualification.

Does any one know why Joel Salas and Richard Reina were disqualified?

Certainly agree, I did not expect a matchup between these two so early...

a comparison would be a Lacy v. Taylor matchup right now...sure it will be a great fight but the buildup could make it a lot more profitable.

Hey sturm you gotta do you homework. Abdulaev was not ko'ed. he misunderstood his corner while he took a knee for an 8 count. He was not visibly hurt. The only thing that hurt him is that he did know any english.

that makes more sense than him simply refusing to continue. When I watched that I couldnt believe my eyes when he didnt get up in time! I remember thinking to myself "he quit"!!! I couldnt believe it..so its nice to hear that maybe that wasnt the case

I'm from England and a BIG Ricky Hatton fan, but I reckon Cotto is the best 140lb fighter out there!... Above Tszyu/Gatti/Harris/Mayweather/Hatton.

I think that Cotto is special, and I find it crazy when people say he was exsposed in his last fight with Corley?... I think he showed tremendous assertiveness and skill to get nailed, NOT go down, and change tactics for the rest of the round to recover!

That will only make him stronger!

This should be a good fight. MA is a pressure fighter with that eastern bloc style. He'll be after cotto from round one and if he hurts him then will most likely put him away.

That being said, I think cotto deserves to be favourite because of his level of opposition in the pro ranks. I like cotto and favour him to win...but reckon it will be close!!
