    LMAO!!!!
He has tested positive once for steroids and he claimed that was due to medication for his shoulder. The second banned substance was an illegal metabolizer.

It still doesnt change the fact the the guy is a boxing wizard, his fights with Jason Robinson and Barkely prove that. The fact that he is a middleweight competing in the hw division further proves my point.

Steroids do not improve your understanding of the sport, you can take all the steroids in the world and get beat up in a boxing ring.

Toney is a smart guy I agree...but to say he has a better IQ than the more disciplined Mayweather is crazy. Look how many round Mayweathers opponents win against him. Toney was literally shut out vs Roy Jones....he lost to Monel Griffin twice....say what you want about training and laziness but the fact remains that he wasnt smart enough to stay disciplined.

and of course James Toney didnt know he was taking steroids just like every other athlete that has been caught and accused of taking them. That excuse is played out. come on ....name one player/athlete that was caught taking steroids that has admitted using them? Toney is a cheater and cheating in a sport where you claim to "HAVE FORGOTTEN MORE THAN ANYONE KNOWS" doesnt equate to having a great IQ.

James Toney has the highest boxing IQ or skill set. His problem is that unlike the other two who were/are gym **** JT is a kitchen rat.

But I say this, if you could transplant Toney's head into almost any other fighters body (on fight night) that body would be a better fighter.

That is including PBF and Hopkins.

              Mayweathers Footwork > Toneys

              easy

              Mayweathers defense > Toneys

the dude lost to the very one dimensional Sam Peter by the scores of judge: 110-118 ---110-118---- 108-119

              lol..thats not a high IQ IMO...losing to a 1 dimensional fighter?

its easy to use the "he was fat excuse".....well i wonder how his IQ played a part in telling him he needed to be not only mentally prepared but physically prepared to COMPETE in a prize fight. That excuse is wack

a fighter with a high IQ would be in shape and ready to compete in EVERY Fight.....

Toney has been out of shape for 5 years

I'd go with James Toney. He's like 40? he doesn't even get hit cleanly even now when he seems to get hit, in slow motion you would see the punch merely grazed him. Hopkins just got hit at will by a come forward Enrique Ornelas ffs.

To answer who can be in the corner by themselves, James Toney as well. Take in to account, the experience. Toney has a lot of pro fights, a rare amount of fights for the fighters of today. He has faced all kinds of styles, all sizes.

As for Mayweather, I believe he does not necessarily need Roger in his corner to win a fight but every boxer, perfect or not, needs a trainer to keep him focused and point out his mistakes or if he's doing everything correctly then the trainer has to be there to tell the boxer that he is doing everything correctly and keep him from changing the gameplan.

We're talking boxing IQ here. None of these three are rocket scientists, but all three are geniuses inside the ring.

Just because he made wrong decisions outside of the ring doesn't mean it takes away from his knowledge inside the ring.

Just because Toney is undiscplined and at times unfocussed, doesnt mean he hasn't got a high boxing IQ. Its hard to use all your skills if you are vastly overweight. You are confusing lack of discipline with IQ and they are not the same thing. Toney defence is far superior to Mayweathers, have you seen his fights with Barkely and Robinson?
