lol ?
This.
People overrate Hopkins "defensive wizardry" beyond belief. Toney's skill set, IQ, and variety/depth of his defensive tactics make Hopkins look like Librado AndradeComment

I would truly say that they are all about the same. I don't think it's their IQ that should be called into question but their will and determination. They all have some of the best boxing IQ's of the last couple of era. The fact that for such a little guy Toney can still get away with fighting genuine HW's without being hurt is staggering.
If anything Toney relies more on his IQ than the other two because of his lack of dedication in the gym. The other two can rely much more on their stamina, strength etc to do more for them. When Toney needs to box, he boxes, when he needs to brawl, he brawls, he fights on the outside when he needs to or on the inside.
I would say they are all very even. Hopkins and Mayweather have much more gym dedication though. Hopkins also has an incredibly crafty set of tactics in the ring and it's highly possible that he actually does more than both of the others to win. All the tiny things that Hopkins does, no one else does and that includes Mayweather. Hard to say.Comment

James Toney in my opinion has the best boxing IQ out of all three. Just watch the Robinson fight the guy can do everything: angles, parrying, feints, shoulder rolls etc.Comment

James Toney by far
no relieing on headbutting, holding or dirty tactics, and even past prime fighting bigger men without much of a speed advantage, no power advantage
all boxing skills and the know how to know when to do somethin
mayweather is more natural gift, got alot of speed, leads with a left and bolts out of there
hopkins secret is fighting little guys and holding on and headbutting
toney as said before, pure boxing IQ, he was born to boxComment

A focused, determined JT was something else, but Toney showboats too much sometimes. Like against roy, he had his hands down against that famous wide leaping left hook. Floyd and Bhop would not have been caught so cleanly by that shot. Especially Floyd. The man hardly ever showboats in there, he's all business.
So that leaves BHop and Floyd... In the end, I think Floyd would have figured out a Calzaghe type of fighter, whereas Bhop couldn't...
So, FloydComment

I think Hopkins is the best candidate for fighting solo. Mayweather has the most boxing IQ, but he does need his corner. Floyd responses really well with his corner.Comment
