Can't stand Roach, really can't. People praise Roach; call him the best trainer but look at the advantages he seeks and gets.
Yo Dominicano
I'm not trying to defend Roach or anything but, After the Pacquiao vs. Hatton fight he did say, "I'm the best trainer in the world because I have the best fighter in the world." And that was after Bob Arum called him the greatest trainer in the world post fight interview in the ring. I just think people in boxing have a lot of egos, Pacquiao included. It's just some have bigger egos than others.
Heck would you want to interview Floyd Mayweather Sr. and argue he's not the best trainer in the world or Freddie Roach?
One thing I don't understand is the hate about the Manny vs. Oscar fight. Oscar chose everything for that fight: weight, gloves, purse. The only thing that Manny complained about was the split which went 68% in Oscar's favor. Most of the people here make it out to be that Manny was the one who chose everything.
It's just that Oscar thought that he was gonna destroy a guy much smaller fighter than him.
The only win that needs a small asterisk is the Cotto fight which was at a catchweight. Other than that, his fights with Oscar and Hatton are credible.
Yeah I think Oscar went down to 147, thinking Pacquiao would be a walkover and a tune up fight so he can get comfortable to the weight in order to bait Mayweather out of retirement and give Mayweather the 147 weight advantage for their rematch. Too bad Pacquiao and Roach had other ideas. And De la Hoya is now in a deeper hole promoting a guy that he knew he could have beaten vs. a guy that embarassed him in the ring. I don't know if ya'll ever thought of it that way.
I concur and I asked the question before. Based on what he said in those videos about those fighters, how can an HONEST fan credit those wins? That is a real question. No hating intended
yes, let's discredit manny for fighting a weight drained dlh (who asked for 147 himself) while crediting pbf (who asked for 144/147)for beating an obese jmm. you get what i'm saying here? pac came and did his job on dlh, who was supposed to murder him, sure dlh didn't blow up to 160 that night, but let's not make it seem like pac didn't give up anything for that fight.
the guy went up 2 weight classes (seems easy enough right?) to fight the bigger man, sure it's easy to say dlh was shot, old, etc. in hindsight but to say that this fight shouldn't even get any credit at all just because roach said stuffs to get attention is ridiculous.
you talk as if pac poisoned his opponents food, wore plasters, took the padding of his gloves and ****d every single member of his past opponent's family.
The video is right though every single fighter manny has fought has been on a downturn and you cannot say that about floyd... I think manny's had a great career but he's not the guy you guys wish him to be. He's not a versatile and great fighter. I believe we'll see that in the ring on March 13th but we shall see if i'm wrong.
yep, floyd had always fought prime opponents at their best weights right? jmm at 144/147, dlh was prime, ricky freakin hatton at 147, judah who just lost to baldomir? don't try to break down a fighter's resume, it works both ways.
You could say what you want but all these were facts. Proved roach is a idiot and has pac fight fighters when they are at their worst
the said fighters signed the contract, it's up to them and their team to come at their best. you're saying like pac has just been staying at one weight class all these years asking for for his opponents to climb up/down divisions for him.
