Why is it Cotto gets a pass when he runs around the ring, but Oscar was crucified??

Why wasn't Cotto criticized for running against a guy who started at 106 lbs. who was supposed to crumple down to the size of the bigger fighter (Cotto)? But when Oscar, who outboxed Tito easily for 8-9 rounds, elected to box more and use his legs when he had the fight in the bag he was criticized beyond belief by everyone. They called him everything from a coward to a ***** to not even being a "real Mexican". It even got to the point in the Cotto/Pac fight where the crowd started booing and Pac had an embarrassed look on his face like he was embarrassed by Cotto's running.

What gives? Why the double standards when it comes to fighters like Oscar and Floyd?

Everybody still acknowledges that he rightfully won, even tho he ain't fight the last 3 rds.

Oscar wasn't running. He was boxing. Cotto was running but nobody's going to **** at him for it seeing as he did try going to toe-to-toe and that didn't work so... can't really blame him. At least he didn't quit.

Oscar was ahead in the fight and gave the last three rounds away by running.

Cotto was eating bombs from every angle and was running to survive.

Of all the fights that Cotto ran in he didn't even have them in the bag either like Oscar more likely should have had against Tito. This thread brings up a good point.

Cotto was getting whooped and he was trying to make it through the whole fight for his pride. and showed heart by staying in there.

because Cotto was already losing, he was fighting for his dear life. On the other hand you cant say the same for Oscar. He was winning but chose to still run.
