The fight itself looked like a glorified sparring session where as it was said “it looked like a man playing with his little son” as stated on the GET UR FACTS STRIGHT talk show with HORUS Floyd picked that fight as a strategic business move. If you think about like this at the time when it was first rumored that Floyd was coming back talk of a rematch with Hatton were on the horizons. Hatton had acquired Floyd Sr to be his trainer and was putting a nice back drop to what would have been a sexy selling point for their fight. Hatton being in bed with GBP and Money Mayweather promotions being in bed with GBP as well. FF with the fight between Marquez and FMJ on hold due to a rib injury Hatton takes a hook to the chin and also losses his shot at the lucrative rematch with Floyd.

Floyd handles Marquez in easy fashion and sets up this MEGA fight with Pacquiao. By beating Marquez the #2 P4P fighter in the world at the time not only did Floyd get a tune up but he secured himself the fight with Pacquiao by taking his only other big money option off the table. Before Marquez fought Floyd there were talks of a Marquez vs Pacquiao III now after Floyd beat him with ease those scream have been silenced. It appears the winner of Pacquiao vs Hatton was going to get the winner of Floyd vs Marquez all along. Think about this Marquez, Mayweather and Hatton are somewhat promoted by GBP. It makes perfect sense and it is going to make dollars too. With the eventual face off between the lineal Champion Mosley and the winner of Pacquiao vs Mayweather if he can get past Berto on January 30th. People were trashing Floyd and I may have been one of them but after some real thought I see the way his move played out for him. It was a calculated selection and paid off for him....Lefty

It created more doubt than reassurance in my opinion. Some will say Marquez is not the same Marquez when Pacquiao fought him..(FMJ"S old lament on Pacquiao's fight with Hatton,De la Hoya and Cotto). It never ends.........

I agree completely lefty. I've been saying this since day one when all the ducking accusations against Floyd were being thrown around. It made 100% business sense for Floyd to delay his fight to September and freeze out Mosley until after Cotto-Pac had happened. The JMM shut-out was a master stroke- he gets to compare PPV numbers for numero uno against JMM-Pac's fights and he beats him in a much more convincing manner.

It's hard not to, considering the fight title, 'Number One / Numero Uno'.

37 of his 50 wins have come by way of KO...he put Manny down something ODLH, Hatton and Cotto couldn't do...I agree above 135lbs his power< but he has power at 135lbs and lower...Lefty
