Serious question on Cotto's body attack against Pacquiao.

Cotto didn't do a lot of stuff he normally used to do in that fight. He would sually just hammer away non stop if a guy stood against the ropes like that but he seems much more tentative than ever now. Doesn't go to the body at all like he used to and doesn't have the same aggression.
Not only that, but he isn't the smartest fighter out there. Stuff that seems obvious like clinching, not sitting on the ropes when you're getting hammered etc etc, is stuff that Cotto seems content to do, instead of trying to not do.
I also think his obvious stamina problem started playing on his mind a lot more now. There were times when he could have wailed away on Pac against the ropes but it seemed as if he wanted to conserve energy as if he knew he would gas out really quickly so he stopped and let Pac come off the ropes. Should have just gone for it in hindsight. Hindsight doesn't help though does it.Comment

Yeah, it was kinda ******.
Pacquiao's elbows were tucked and everything and Cotto kept throwing those hooks.Comment

His head would basically be a target for Pac's counter-left straight. cotto's movement is too slow to be able to pull those kinds of shots offComment

But when he attempts to adjust fighting backwards, he isn't always successful. Against Mosley the jab started to work even in the last rounds, but then Shane started nailing him with right hands. One of them was when Cotto was against the ropes, and they tied up right after. Clottey had him backing up after right hands too, and he continued to catch them. Problem was Clottey is very reluctant finisher.Comment

I keep telling people that it was the same thing up top. All his punches were looping, thats why they didnt hurt Pac. If he had threw some down the pipe then it may have been different but it was easy for Pac to block all those wide shots. Thats why he busted Pac's ear. Floyd will shoot his straight down the pipeComment
