  • Felix "Tito" Trinidad gets slapped...

Okay, first and foremost yes I am Puerto Rican and a Tito Trinidad Fan! Okay now that the cat's out the bag I would like to enlighten you guys on a little thing that I find weird when I look at the Hopkins/Trinidad fight. Don't know if anyone ever brought this up but I have never seen it brought up so here it goes...

In EVERY SINGLE Tito Trinidad fight his DAD slaps him in the face between rounds, sort of a way to "hype" him up in the fight. Does anyone know the number of times his DAD slapped him the night he fought Hopkins? The answer is NONE!

Now I realize by posting this I'm opening myself up to a lot of ignorant people who are going to think I'm using this as an excuse as to why he lost, but I am not! The fact is Hopkins dominated him and that's that! BUT the fact that he and his father were not talking two weeks before the fight (he also stopped training him) had to have had a negative effect on him as a boxer. That being said I really look forward to a rematch with Hopkins but I fear if TITO were to win it would mean nothing because Hopkins is getting older by the minute. Your thoughts?

I like how ur not talkin in a biased kind of way...
If his father never trained or talked to him 2 weeks prior to the bout then that must have affected him...
but in my opinion, Hopkins would still have won that night, Trinidad didn't seem to be focused either, but Hopkins was hungry and he would've figured out any style Tito came up with..

Tito is exciting, but I don't think he goes to well with a ring tactitian like Hopkins, as well a hungry Philadelphia fighter...

The next fight will be much closer but I still put my money on Hopkins because his just so smart...It definately won't end in a knockout this time though...

Good thread though, props to you..

Thanks, I agree Hopkins is tricky but as of late he seems to be a "boring" fighter as though he's saving himself for his last big fight against...

I'm sure Hopkins has aged since then and now...

Even if Tito had a chance to beat Hopkins, which by the result of the fight seems unlikely, the fact remains that Tito's camp underestimated big time Hopkins. I remember prior to the tournament that Papa Trinidad said that Hopkins was the easier of the three. I don't know if it was because of his age or what, but Hopkins was and maintains in such good shape that he was able to throw punches all the fight. Still I would like to see them fight again because I think Tito would do a better job.

I think the only thing that would've changed, had Tito's daddy slapped him between rounds during that fight, is that Tito would've been *****-slapped by two men instead of just one. He simply didn't have the experience and smarts to beat Hopkins. He might have it now, but Christ, how old is Hopkins? Forty? Any fight Hopkins wins from now on is pure gravy on his career, while anyone who manages to beat him has done nothing but beat an old man. Who the **** wants a risk like that? I'm geniunely surprised Hopkins is still being chased by younger up and coming opponents.

Quit making excuses for Tito!! He lost. Get over it!! When you enter the ring, you are supposed to be mentally ready regardless of what's happening outside the ring. Tito got his ass kicked and that's that. Let it go.

                he gets slapped???
                shouldnt Mr Trinidad Sr
leave the slapping to the other boxers????
but he did get owned in the Hopkins fight.
and Trinidad Sr knew that so maybe he figured
Hopkins was doing a good anough job
