Maidana isn't a very skilled fighter but he applys pressure, has good power and is durable.

He would cause Khan problems because of those factors and would certainly test that glass chin.

A win over Maidana would erase that Prescott loss no doubt in my mind.

    Khan should fight him.

I wouldn't mind Khan ducking Maidana if he faces someone like Holt, Bradley, Paulie, etc.
No it doesnt. I was just pointing out that Maidana was beaten by Kotelnik who Khan shut out. It doesnt mean neccesarily that Khan beats Maidana, it just shows how ordinary a fighter Maidana actually is.

Nothing has been confirmed yet. But if Khan fights a better fighter, how can he be ducking an ordinary fighter like Maidana? Which I see you have agreed with in your last sentence.....

I think what we are seeing here more than Khan ducking Maidana, is Khan ducking Punchers.

If he ever plans to rid himself of the stigma of being glass chined this is not the way to do so.

You cant claim to be the best LW in the world when youve been KOd in 50 and havent been anywhere near a puncher since.

not sure if khan is ducking him or not,hes ready to fight whoever, weather he wins or not we will only find out in the future, roach wont be able to train him for the fight because he will be getting manny ready 4 the biggest of his career,so he might get pushed into vacating the belt, without roach training him he wont beat maidana

Guys Maidana is high risk low reward. Khan wants the winner of Diaz/Malignaggi first and then he will go for Maidana trust me. Nobody heard of Maidana before the Ortiz fight. Khan wants to establish himself in America. He needs to beat a well known boxer to do that. Therefore Maidana is not on his target (yet).

In would like to see khan fight Maidana to shut the haters up if we won, which I think he would, but if he doesn’t and gets another good fight I’m not that bothered...

But there is alot of options out there for him. youve got bradley fighting in December. The option of taking on Nate Campbell, diaz/Malignaggi depending on who wins. Paul McCloskey who is an unbeaten fellow brit, which would be a huge domestic match up.

Or even Urango or witter... there’s loads maidana is just one fighter in the division that is pretty good.

This post doesn't even have concrete evidence rather rumours of the Khan camp avoiding maidana, so dont slate the kid. Khan is highly likely to fight for the undercard of may v pac according to roach. Who also wants Khan to be the main sparring partner for pacquiao so he will train alongside pacquiao, and tbh there isn't better training than that. I would prefer Khan to fight a known name like diaz-malinagi winner or somebody like nate campbell. Maidana is an all out slugger with hardly any boxing skills, so if Khan schools him then he won't get the credit(Hence it's a high risk, low reward fight). Whereas he would recieve credit for beating a decent known fighter like diaz, malinagi or campbell.

Plus when you're as popular as amir khan (15 million viewers in the olympic finals and 9+ million for his fights on ITV) you can cherry pick, just like oscar de la hoya did due to his popularity

Theres only one thing.....ODL didnt cherry pick he fought everyone he may not have won but he fought everyone till the end...Right or wrong reasons point is he fought everyone...So this Cherry picking thing can go out the window. Khan needs to EARN his way he cannot pick and choose because his fan base is big...O well the bigger the fan base the bigger the dissapoint ask hatton fans..

Khan has only had 4 camps with freddy roach, before this he had a kickboxing coach for 17 fights or something Khan still needs a year or 2 with roach to correct his flaws, learn the basics and improve his boxing knowledge. Due to his popularity in england it doesn't really matter who he fights tbh because he will sell out 10,000-20,000 seating arenas with decent undercards, he's just that popular. So for the time being he can get away with cherry picking whether u like it or not, sure it won't make him many more fans. But they will forget about it when he actually starts fighting dangerous opponents in a few years time. Oscar did cherry pick at the start of his career, but later on he did fight every1. Thats exactly what khan will do, if he doesn't then go ahead slate him because I would 2.

If Khan fights a better fighter, I dont really care if hes a puncher or not. JMM, Diaz, Paulie, Bradley, Lamont are all better fighters than Maidana. So if Khan fights one of them instead, I dont see how anyone can be mad.
