yes, it is amazing. With all the hype floyd promises some people still buy his ppvs to watch him coast to a 12 rounds decision . Actually, if you look at it closely, he's dropped severly since ODLH. Not alot of casual fans knew about Floyd before ODLH. They saw him on 24/7 promising a battle, war, an entertaining bout. Only to see him potshot and run, not even a mark on either boxer.

The results, 2.2 million ppv buys against ODLH, down to 850k vs Hattton. 1 million vs JMM. Floyd couldve capitalized on a new fan base but failed. PPV sales were down more than 60% since then. Now he whores himself out on chelsea lately and WWE, and is now pleading for support from Americans. pretty cheap way to sell a fight. But you know he needs that money, and his fans like pointing it out.

Good thing is the other half of the fight is Manny. Ill rely on 24/7 for the hype. I could care less if Manny shows up on WWE or Fox news.

pac is selling boxing, floyd is selling a personality.

when floyd was beating in the early division and scoring knockouts and letting his hands go, while being mostly quiet, was he even on ppv? *** no. because unlike cotto and pac he didint have a built in fanbase he could build around, so he had to create a persona. cotto and pac are by definition, more exciting to the casual eye, so its a bit easier for them to accomplish that.

there is more to it than just "oh well if floyd would just be humble" or "if floyd would fight the best" thats bull****, like i said in an earlier thread, pernell whitaker fought the best and never ducked anybody and he was NEVER a draw outside of ******ia, and never a PPV draw. he was respected among boxing fans but the casuals absolutely hated him. it was his style people couldnt stand. im not buying youre argument.
He was with Arum back then, that's why it took him years to get to where he's at...
