        Genuine question.

I believe it might have been the latter. He thought Hatton would beat Pacquiao and set up another huge (but easy) payday.
        Sam,

Floyd came back for the big checks, irrrespective of whose name was attached.

So, while I do not believe Team mayweather's "hit list" story, it is a bonus for them that the guys who emerged were the guys who they felt all along that they could beat.

If you saw Miguel on the roll that be was pre-Margarito, I think Team May would be less confident than they are now. Floyd is extremely sure in his mind that he can, knows how to, and will beat Pac.

Perhaps he is wrong, but he is sure of himself.

Floyd came back to boxing for two reasons, IRS and Ellerbe. Ellerbe gets sexually arouse when Floyd is in the ring.

Just look at the video when Ellerbe was massaging Floyd's chest.

After he he saw Pacquiaos homecoming for the Dream Match, he brusted in tears for 2hrs. He was so sad that Manny was now a face of boxing and he no longer was. All his life he only wishs that he would get a homecoming like that. He was so ashamed of himself for how he ducked Margarito, Cotto, and Mosley so he made a pinky promise to Ellerbe be that he will make a return to sport. That's why he came back.

He can back for the money, despite what Pac was doing.

He came back for Manny, thats the guy he wants.
I thought that was pretty clear from the way he was been talking and the way negotiations went with this fight.

Besides, didn't he announce his match with Marquez before the fight with Hatton was over? That means he was already in talks with GBP to make that fight and he only fought him to gain negotiation power for a Pacquiao fight. Marquez was the perfect fight for that. It's the guy that gave Pacquiao hell. Floyd had a big size advantage and made the fight look easy. Warrior he is not. Smart business man he is. That goes opposite for Pacquiao.
