Because Maidana can punch. Kotelnik can't. Styles make fights. Kotelnik's style was made for Khan; but Kotelnik has a good defence and a great chin, which enabled him to narrowly beat Maidana. Maidana would be a huge test for Khan's chin.

I think Khan can outbox Maidana, and Khan himself says he wants to fight him, but it's very disturbing that both Roach and Warren seem to be trying to duck out of that fight. And Dooley doesn't call them on it when he interviews them.

You are the one who keeps bringing religion up. My original statement, in the article, was part-fashion with a religious commentary on the possible reasons for the colour scheme. I said that green is the colour of Islam, it is, and that Salita wore the star of David, he did. Who knows, maybe the drive through the countryside had provoked thoughts of the poets in Khan, and he was prepresenting nature on their behalf. I'll put it too him. Not sure that he'll answer like.

Unless Khan's shorts were a tribute to the Irish fans, odd really considering that the fight took place in Newcastle.

As for 'trouble-making garbage, written by unknown religious, lunatic, imbeciles' - that is harsh. Internet boxing forums are not that bad!

Dave, I'm trying to set another interview up, I'll ask about Maidaina. As it goes I think he telegraphs his shots, there is steam on them but I think Khan should be able to negate and out-box him.

Comments always appreciated guys. I actually felt for Salita in the aftermath of this one. It is easy for us to write him off but here is a guy who long dreamed, and believed, that he was going to become a world champion, only to find out that he is nowhere near that level. That is one tough break. I hope he regroups and either finds something else to dedicate himself to, as he seems an intense guy, or manages to papaer over the cracks in his boxing style. I wish him well for the future.

I agree, but he needs to prove it in order to gain my respect and the respect of most real boxing fans as opposed to the nuthugging type. I've been appalled by how much of the British press has been firmly in the latter camp. Sure he looked great against Salita, but Salita had no business whatsoever being in a world title fight, given the standard of opposition he'd faced previously, and the press should have pointed that out and most of them didn't - many of them said that Salita was a stern test for Khan, and a dangerous opponent!

I'm not convinced that Salita is any better than Earl was, and Khan looked great against Earl, too, and yet he was badly exposed soon after the Earl fight. I think he's a far better fighter now than he was then, but he needs to step up and fight a top 10 fighter who can punch, in order to prove it. If he doesn't, the hype will be hollow, and he won't deserve any respect. Warren's talk about wanting him to fight a shot fighter like Castillo instead is just sickening to me.

In one sense I did, too, but in another, I didn't because I find it hard to sympathise with someone who went over 30 fights without facing anyone who was remotely world class or even gatekeeper class. In a sense you could say he did well out of boxing, because he was allowed to get away with going so long, with quite good pay, before being exposed. I think he's made a lot more money out of boxing than his ability justifies. Still, I know what you mean, he must be devastated right now, and as you say I hope he can find another career that suits him.

The only "big thing" Roach sees is when him and Pacquiao both have to pee at the same time! LOL

khan is an exciting fighter. speed and power. he is still really young so i agree they should take it slow before calling out the big names. but as a champion he needs to face more legitimate competition. let's hope he takes on the other names in the division like bradley, alexander, urango, even malinaggi would be a good test. he would destroy juan diaz. and i think at 140 he'd be too much for marquez.

It made me laugh reading the comments above that said Salita needs to find another career. I'm sorry but Salita is 30-1, and has much to offer boxing, if only at the domestic level. He doesn't need to quit the sport he loves because he lost one fight. Even if he fights bums for the rest of his career, at least he is doing something he loves and enjoys. You have no right to tell him he should 'dedicate' himself to something else. Not all boxers need to become world champions.
