    Johnny Tapia V.S. Danny Romero.

Hardly ever hear anyone speak about that fight other than yours truly. The most underrated fight of all time IMO, as well as the biggest upset I have ever seen next to Tyson V.S. Douglas.

Johnny's performance, and backflip will never be forgotten.

Johnny was the betting favorite by fight-time, wasn't really an upset....

I'll take Lennox Lewis-Ray Mercer as one of the most under-rated fights, great slug-fest featuring a prime Lewis in a war vs. a granite-chinned Mercer

Hamed was getting clobbered in this fight, and Kelley had the power to finish him. Hell, he had him wobbly several times and on the canvas three times. But he got greedy and went after Hamed wildly and paid the price. Give Naseem credit for that, but Kelley made such a huge mistake...then again, I guess if I had someone down three times in 4 rounds, I'd probably try to finish him too...just a tough outcome for Kelley...

Why was there no immediate rematch? Hmm...
Great call, the Prince's 1st fight in the US, his 1st power-punching challenger, a great see-saw battle....

the undercard fight was an underground classic as well, Junior Jones whupped Kennedy McKinney for 3 1/2 rounds then ran outta gas and ran into a wicked right hand by The King

          How about Castillo-Lazcano.
I think it was under rated along with the most under rated boxer(Castillo).

Holyfield-Cooper was a classic and under rated.

          Tito-Oscar way over rated.
The most disapointing fight of all time!!!!
You hardly ever get 2 guys this good to fight in their primes!!!!
This should of been a Hagler-Hearns type of collision.

I remember this fight and it was weird. Jones was dominating McKinney, really big time then just fell apart. Jones` chin lost this fight, if Junior Jones can a rock chin, he`d have been pound for pound material!

                  He lost, serves him right!!
This is the reason Mexican fans never liked his ass.
Could he be mixed with black?

Romero was the odds on favorite at 3-2, and should have been higher. Johnny's odds might have grown closer toward fight time....but I am not sure. Every boxing expert was picking Romero to win, and Johnny came out and shocked everyone.

                    Dave Iamele: (Boxing Journalist)

I told Johnny that Danny was a visitor to the Hall last year and that I'd spent some time with him. Danny was very confident that he would beat him (Tapia) and that although the odds were very close before the bout, it seemed many people I spoke to were in agreement. I inquired as to why, it seemed, that Danny was regarded so highly before their bout, while Johnny may have been underestimated?

nobody was picking Tapia. Nor was any of the H.B.O. crew.

We need to ask Rick who he thought was going to win this fight. I will bet you 100K that he was picking Romero.

                      The Barrera vs. Fana was way over rated IMO. The fight took place here in El Paso, here’s a few observations;

                      1. The Lazcano fight was cancelled and replaced with a four rounder
                      2. We were told that the PPV was going to be blacked out locally and
If you wanted to watch the fight , you better buy your ticket and go to the venue
                      3. The morning of the fight, they announced that the black out was lifted, as it was a sell out, and for everybody to order the PPV. There were two thousand tickets left by fight time. 10,100 tickets sold on a 12,000 seat arena.
                      4. Abner Mares, a former Mexican Olympian, was scheduled to fight and his fight was cancelled, there was no replacement for this fight.
                      5. The Barrera fight lasted five minutes
                      6. The event was over by 9:25 PM local time, they stopped selling beer by 8:30
                      7. There was no Lampley, Merchant, Jones Jr or Lederman calling the action.
                      8. The Golden Boy looked pretty happy though.
