    In Defense of Dmitriy Salita...

First off, congratulations to Amir Khan. He did what he had to do, earned a big win at home fairly and squarely, and positioned himself for bigger things.

Now, Dmitriy DSalita is a better fighter than he showed last night. I'm not saying that because he is one of my favourite fighters, and because I had called for this to be a close match or a Salita win.

Any fighter can get caught cold by a puncher. In fact, it was merely a year ago that Amir khan himself was on the other end of a one round KO. Khan hit Salita with a two-piece in the opening secons, and the fight was over from there. Dee's head hit the canvas pretty hard.

I'm not sure what happened. Maybe fighting away from home. We have seen guys struggle a lot fighting on foreign soil. Just last week, Roy had a terrible experience. We know that Salita "struggled" to make weight (according to BoxingScene). Perhaps Dee was weakened by that.

I just hope Salita is respected for his lifestyle and dedication to the sport. And I hope he gets a chance to work his way back into contention for another shot at Amir Khan.

Don't judge too harshly. The ref could have stopped Pacquiao-Marquez in the first round. And we would have never learned that Marquez is Pac's equal.

This is a rough sport. Guys get caught. Much respect to Dimitriy.

To be fair, Salita never had a chance.

He looked good against the opposition he fought. He was then thrown straight in against a world class operator. Caught cold or not, he's been down at least twice against guys with a 10% and 7% KO record.

Yuriorkis Gamboa takes a canvas nap at least once per fight...but people are still high on him. Right?

If Salita does get another shot, It shouldn't be against Khan. Khan should move onto bigger and better things.

It would be pointless to bring Salita in there again, its not like he even gave him a decent account of himself to warrent a rematch. There is certainly no demand for a rematch

i was there and i was expecting salita to give khan a few problems, not enough to beat him mind but just enoug to make khan think. khan was just on the ball right off the bat.

yeah maybe the atmosphere away from home got to him. it was very hostile towards him and the way khan came out salita never had a chance to settle down at all.

i followed all the build up, and although i was rooting for khan, i wanted salita to do well. he comes across very well and i felt bad seeing him getting beat so easliy. he seems a good guy and i hope does well in future fights.

            Because he has power.

Salita doesn't. Nor does he have considerable speed or boxing skills.

This could have been a one line post so lemme just summarize this for everybody...

"I picked Salita to win. He got owned so here I am making excuses."

Look no disrespect but Salita just aint good enough for the world stage. Every top 20 fighter in the LWW division will beat him.

Naw, i'm not saying immediately. I know that D needs to go build his brand back up. i mean down the line, he gets a chance to erase the stain of that fight . If Khan is still a champion.

Sorry but Khan isnt a world class operator just yet, The guy is 22 years old, Has fought just 5 years has a pro, Salita was suppose to do better he had been a pro for 8 years and much more older/experienced.

Even though he doesnt have power i was expecting alita to box Khan a bit but to just be blown out says alot about how much Khan has improved under Roach and how much salita needs to learn.
