Agree on Arreola. He shouldn't be getting knocked around by small heavies like that. Maybe the VK fight took something out of him. Maybe he's just not that good.

    Other thoughts:

Breidis Prescott has shown absolutely 0 improvement since knocking out Khan. I had hopes for the kid, he has some good attributes, but oddly enough he seems to have gotten worse? Those wide looping punches are horrible. This kid badly needs a decent trainer. Mitchell did a good job, although I find his style irritating for some reason.

Khan looked superb. Roach and Ariza have done a sterling job so far. 140 is perfect for him.

Williams needs to avoid southpaws and stay around 154. Martinez is a great and underrated fighter. That fight was not a robbery, a case can be made for either man, but only by a round or so. I think a better prepared Williams would have a slightly easier time. Needs to sharpen up his defense and learn to make the most of his height.

good of both of them to take it on a months notice, Pwill taking on another lefty and Martinez taking on the freak!

not a lot of time to prepare for each others difficult style
Yep. Both deserve a **** ton of credit.

I agree with most of what you said, but regarding Williams he couldn’t have been more prepared I have never seen him out of shape in any outing and was game throughout. However, I think mentally he came in with the same mentality he came in with the Carlos Quintana fight in that he was believing his own hype regarding being the “most feared man” and didn’t think he’d be pressed like he did in an all out trench war the way he did. He needs to work on his defense more and stop chasing the KO. But all else I agree with you.

            Peace.

I had it dead even at 5 rounds apiece, and gave the last two rounds to Sergio Gabriel.

              115-113 Martinez.

What I don't get though are the people posting on here "IF YOU HAD MARTINEZ WINNING THEN YOURE A ******!!!11" or "WILLIAMS STOLE A DECISION OVERRATEDZORZ!!!!!!!"

The beautiful thing about the fight was how evenly matched they were the entire bout, there's certainly nothing wrong if you gave the fight to Martinez or gave it to P-Will, it's one of those rare fights that'll be debated for a long while to come. And the best thing is no one is wrong.

But to absolutely crucify someone for giving it to the person you thought loss? Grow the **** up.

Well, he was training for Pavlik originally, although he probably did have enough time to prepare for Martinez. I dunno man. Something tells me he wasn't in his best form, but that sounds like I'm taking credit away from Martinez, which is not really the case. You might be correct -- maybe he did start to believe his own hype. A close fight might be exactly what he needed to highlight his flaws and force him to work harder.

Neither man won by more than 2 points. It was even after 10 and the last / rounds were the deciding factor in the fight. I gave the last 2 rounds to Sergio, even though he got tired he was landing that left hand flush. He landed the cleaner, harder blows.
