    Thoughts from Last Night

First of all... Brian Pinto has some freaking balls... seems like one of those guys who is too stubborn for his own good, the type who could get hit with a sledge hammer and keep swinging... i expect no less from a former PIAA football player!

Secondly, WHAT A FIGHT! played out exactly as i expected... although i wasnt certain either fighter would go down. i felt a lot of people were underestimating Martinez, for he surely was game. I was ok with obviously two of the three cards... i could have seen it going as wide as 116-112 at most, but that could have been in either favor... any score within that range for either fighter would have been understandable IMO

I hope both fighters' fan bases grew last night as well... it was a stellar performance, one of the best 12 round non title fights i've seen in a loooong time

thirdly, arreola is getting worse and worse it seems... i understand pinto was game and had a hella chin, but pinto was in that fight a great deal more than he should have been, especially given the size disparity... arreola was taking some shots he shouldnt have... i really cannot see him being a legitimate champion... maybe put him against haye to see who is the better tier II HW champ....

and another great night by kellerman... he called the bull**** for what it was and did a nice little piece on the highlights of the year... say what you want about max, but he loves his boxing and wants to see it done right!

oh, and lastly.... i really wish they would have broadcast the Quintana vs Feliciano fight.... i heard it was good and those guys both bring it, imagine how much better the card would have been to have that on the air

it seems these lesser cards almost always end up as entertaining or more than the big hype ones!

          good quote from DiBella

"I thought my guy won by one point," said Lou DiBella, Martinez's promoter. "I can live with a close loss. I can live with 115-113 or a draw. But I cannot live with a 119-110 incompetent piece of s--- who shouldn't work again as a judge. Is there anyone on Earth who actually thinks that great fight was almost a shutout? Please."

martinez was game... but his legs were going late in that fight...

it was almost humorous, or motivational because his legs looked like wet noodles but his arms were still throwing and throwing hard....

good of both of them to take it on a months notice, Pwill taking on another lefty and Martinez taking on the freak!

not a lot of time to prepare for each others difficult style

That would be a great card. Never going to happen though, Williams vs. Martinez is a big enough fight to be a main event on another night.

Great fights both main event and undercard, beginning with Arreola this dude needs to take his boxing career seriously or he will forever remain a second tier opponent that ”could’ve been.” Start by hiring a nutritionist and put his work in training harder and focusing on conditioning before fight strategies.

As for Martinez-Williams a classic fight with guaranteed fireworks but I thought Martinez did enough to edge the fight in his favor I gave rounds 11 and 12 to Martinez for the cleaner and more effective punching, therefore 119-110 was indeed a travesty. One thing I learned about P. Williams he could thoroughly be out boxed given the right strategy and timing. Carlos Quintana showed that when he schooled him in their first outing and Martinez was an A-Caliber version of him.

                    Peace.
